Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Ona Alborada – honestly, the name had me wondering if I’d booked the right place. But this little 3-star gem tucked away on Avenida Fernando Salazar Gonzalez completely surprised me. Costa Del Silencio lives up to its name here, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s actually quiet enough to hear yourself think, which is saying something for the Canary Islands.
The thing about this place is it sits in this sweet spot where you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of Los Cristianos (just a short bus ride away), but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. Las Galletas is right there – and honestly, if you haven’t wandered through that little fishing village yet, you’re missing out. The locals there know the best spots for fresh fish, and there’s this unpretentious energy that feels refreshingly real. I’d walk down in the evenings just to watch the boats come in, then grab dinner at one of those family-run places where the menu isn’t in five languages.
What really won me over about Ona Alborada was how it handles the details that matter. The rooms are clean without being sterile, and the staff – well, they actually seem to give a damn about whether you’re having a good time. Check-in was smooth, parking wasn’t a nightmare (trust me, that’s not always guaranteed around here), and the whole place has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to slow down. The pool area gets busy mid-afternoon when families are back from the beach, but early morning? You’ll have it mostly to yourself. I spent more time there than I planned, just reading and listening to the palm trees rustle – sounds cheesy, but it’s genuinely peaceful.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore this part of Tenerife without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist factory. You’re close enough to the action when you want it, but far enough away to actually relax. The coastal walk toward Playa de la Madera is gorgeous, especially at sunset, and there’s something satisfying about discovering these little coves that aren’t packed with beach chairs and umbrellas. Plus, if you rent a car – which I’d recommend – you can easily day-trip to Mount Teide or the northern villages without dealing with resort traffic.
Look, it’s not fancy in that Instagram-perfect way, but it’s got character and that 8.4 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects real value. The kind of place where you sleep well, wake up refreshed, and don’t feel like you’re being nickeled and dimed for every little thing. I actually extended my stay by two days because I wasn’t ready to leave, and honestly, that says everything you need to know about Ona Alborada.

We were allocated room 323 on the ground floor. It turned out to be a very large studio apartment, with an equally large, wheelchair-accessible en suite bathroom and a spacious (raised) terrace with a lovely garden view and (partial) sea view. The apartment appeared to have been recently refurbished and re-equipped to a high standard. Our double bed (conjoined twins) was both commodious and comfortable. The blackout blinds were highly effective. Although, our room wasn't air-conditioned, it did have a large ceiling fan over the bed, which we didn't need to use (our stay was in January). Although we didn't use it, the aparthotel's huge seawater pool looked great.
Housekeeping changed both the towels and bed sheets half way through our weeklong stay, on the date that the friendly, male receptionist told us they would at check-in. We received a telephone call from his female colleague about an hour later to check that all was in order with our room, which it was. So top marks to both the reception and housekeeping teams!Irene from Ireland (9/10)
The location is good. Plenty of amenities nearby like shops and restaurants. The staff were so friendly and always on hand to help with any queries. The pool area is beautiful and you can easily pass the day lying in the sun.

The seawater pool is huge and fantastic, especially if you are into swimming and the salty taste is better than chlorine.Petrova from Ireland (9/10)

Amazing hotel! The cleanliness of both the rooms and the hotel grounds is maintained at a high level. The staff is friendly, especially the receptionist Carlos. The mattress and pillows are of excellent quality. It was very important that after check-out, we could stay on the hotel premises and use the facilities. While waiting for check-in at another place, I left my belongings in a locker and relaxed by the pool, where the Wi-Fi was excellent.
Mattress and pillows were comfortable for a good night sleep.
I would definitely recommend staying here to my friends!Kim from United Kingdom (9/10)
Rooms very well equipped, clean and modern. Beds comfortable and the duvets were useful as not warm enough in March for just sheets.
The pool bar/ food cabin was very good, staff exceptional and prices very reasonable.Neil from United Kingdom (9/10)
It didn't look much from the outside, but once inside the room was lovely. It was recently refurbished and fresh and clean. It was very spacious with tv in the main area and bedroom. The pool area was outstanding with great views of the sea.
