I mean, Golf del Sur gets plenty of visitors, but this particular stretch feels quieter – you’re close enough to hear the ocean without all the beachfront chaos that comes with some of the bigger resorts further up the coast.

The thing is, this isn’t trying to be a luxury destination, and honestly, that’s kind of refreshing. It’s a solid 3-star that knows exactly what it is. The rooms are clean and comfortable without any unnecessary frills, and the staff – well, they actually seem to know the area. When I asked about getting to the golf course (which, let’s be honest, is probably why you’re considering Golf del Sur in the first place), they didn’t just point vaguely toward the door. They knew the walking routes, the quieter times to book, even mentioned which local spots do decent coffee before an early tee time. The 7.8 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without trying to oversell itself.

What I really appreciated was how it sits in the neighborhood. You can walk to proper local bars and restaurants instead of being stuck in some isolated resort bubble. There’s this little tapas place just a few streets over that the front desk recommended – definitely not somewhere you’d find in a guidebook, but exactly the kind of spot that makes a trip memorable. The beach access is straightforward too, though you’ll want to bring your own umbrella since the hotel doesn’t provide beach gear. Parking was never an issue when I was there (even during what seemed like a busy weekend), and the check-in was refreshingly quick – none of that drawn-out sales pitch about timeshares or expensive excursions. Sometimes you just want to drop your bags and get on with your vacation, you know?
