It’s tucked away in Punta del Hidalgo, which honestly feels like the end of the world in the best possible way. But then you walk inside and realize they actually mean it about those ocean views. I mean, you’re literally staring out at the Atlantic from almost every angle, and the sound of waves hitting the volcanic rocks below becomes this constant, soothing background noise that you don’t realize you’ve been missing until it’s there.

The thing about this place is that it gets Tenerife right – you know what I mean? It’s not trying to be some flashy resort where you forget you’re in the Canary Islands. The staff genuinely knows the area (ask them about the hiking trails to Punta del Hidalgo lighthouse, seriously), and the whole vibe feels more like staying at a well-run local spot that happens to have four-star amenities. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being stuffy, and most importantly, they actually open the windows so you can hear the ocean properly. Parking was surprisingly easy – there’s a decent-sized lot that doesn’t turn into a nightmare even during the busier months, which is more than I can say for some places along the coast.

What really sold me was the location itself. Punta del Hidalgo isn’t some tourist trap – it’s where people from Santa Cruz actually come to escape on weekends. You’ve got natural pools carved into the volcanic rock just a short walk down the coast, and the whole area feels authentically Canarian in a way that the southern resorts just don’t. The hotel sits right at that sweet spot where you’re close enough to hear the waves crash against the cliffs, but far enough back that you’re not getting salt spray on your balcony (though honestly, that might not bother you). The 8.6 rating makes sense when you consider it’s not trying to be everything to everyone – it’s just really good at being a comfortable base for exploring this part of the island. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works, and the breakfast situation is solid without being overwhelming. If you’re the type who wants to experience Tenerife beyond the typical tourist circuit, this place gets it.
