Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Ocean Blue Studio on Camino la Costa, I wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in simple packages. This little studio apartment sits right in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, and I mean literally – you’re maybe a three-minute walk from the main plaza where all the locals hang out for their evening paseo.

What really got me was how practical everything felt. The studio setup is actually pretty clever – they’ve maximized the space without making it feel cramped, which is honestly rare in these older Canarian buildings. The kitchenette has everything you’d actually use (not just decorative stuff), and the bathroom… well, let’s just say the water pressure was a pleasant surprise after some of the places I’ve stayed on the islands. The balcony faces toward the coast – hence the name, I suppose – and on clear mornings you can catch glimpses of the Atlantic between the buildings. It’s not a full ocean view, but hey, you’re not paying resort prices either.

Here’s the thing about the location that most travel sites won’t tell you: Camino la Costa is one of those streets where actual Puerto de la Cruz residents live and work. You’ll hear the morning sounds of the neighborhood waking up, maybe some construction during renovation season (which seems to be perpetual in this town), but it dies down by evening. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s solid, reliable, clean, but not trying to be something it’s not. I actually appreciated that. You’re close enough to walk to Playa Jardín when you want proper beach time, and the Lago Martiánez pools are literally around the corner. Plus – and this matters if you’re planning to explore the island – you can actually find parking in this neighborhood, unlike down by the waterfront where it’s basically impossible during peak season. The check-in was straightforward, no fancy lobby nonsense, just practical and efficient. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, well-located base for exploring Tenerife without breaking the bank, Ocean Blue Studio does exactly what it says on the tin.

  The view was amazing. The bed was very confortable and the terrace was very nice.

  What could be improved: We were given a stained bed sheet, the towels were stained, old and used. The walls and the curtains were manky. Cracks in the ceiling. The balcony door was hard to close . The shower was clogged. The shower floor was flat so the water was going everywhere when showering. The building itself looks very old and the corridor is very prison like.
  All our clothes got destroyed by the washing machine, our white clothes had stains or were completely coloured. Some pants got destroyed and had holes in them after using the washing machine and we had to throw out a lot of it. The pictures online are definitely outdated and the place looks much worse. Not recommended at all, very overpriced.

  Très beau studio refait à neuf, bien aménagé et décoré avec goût dans les tons clairs avec une terrasse et une vue fantastique sur l’océan.
  
  What could be improved: L’accès par un couloir peu accueillant (en travaux ) et la route en contre bas dont le bruit est néanmoins plus ou moins couvert par celui de la mer.

  Sehr positiver Gesamteindruck: die Kommunikation mit der Unterkunft war schon im Vorfeld sehr wertschätzend und hilfreich.
  Die Wohnung selbst entsprach tatsächlich exakt den abgebildeten Fotos, von den Haushaltsgeräten und Utensilien ist alles notwendige in gepflegter Qualität ausreichend vorhanden.
  Der Blick von der wirklich großen Terrasse ist ein Traum und auch die direkte Umgebung ist wunderschön, weil man eben nicht direkt im Zentrum wohnt, welches aber auch fussläufig schnell zu erreichen ist.
  Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden und können die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
  
  What could be improved: Nich wirklich negativ, eher als Anmerkung und Rat für Nachfolger: Mülltüten und Wasserfilter waren jeweils nur einmal vorhanden, auch Spülmaschinentabs gab es nur drei Stück. Da wir keine Grosspackung kaufen wollten, haben wir dann von Hand gespült, was für uns okay war, Müllbeutel haben wir natürlich nachgekauft. Das ist absolut in Ordnung, wäre aber hilfreich gewesen, dies vorher zu wissen.
  Und: entgegen der Beschreibung verfügte unsere Wohnung nicht über eine Klimaanlage, sondern nur über einen Standventilator. Da wir meist moderate Temperaturen hatten, war auch das okay. Im Hochsommer hätte es uns aber wahrscheinlich gestört.

  El piso era muy cómodo y había de todo, así como los atardeceres tan bonitos desde su terraza.
  La ubicación estaba bien, no era el centro pero estaba bien comunicado y había aparcamiento sin problema.
