You know what struck me first about Oasis del Mar? The name actually makes sense – and honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think with hotels. This place really does feel like finding water in the desert, except the desert is the sometimes overwhelming tourist sprawl of Puerto de Santiago, and the water is this surprisingly sophisticated 4-star gem tucked away on Calle Alcalde Pedro Acevedo Bisshopp.

I mean, let’s be real about the location first – you’re not exactly in the heart of everything, but that’s actually the point. While everyone else is fighting for pool chairs at the massive resorts closer to the marina, you’re about a 10-minute walk from the black sand beaches (those volcanic beaches that look dramatic in photos but can get scorching hot by noon, fair warning). The street itself is pretty quiet, which I appreciated because you can actually sleep with the windows open to catch that Atlantic breeze without being serenaded by late-night party crowds. There’s a small Spar grocery store maybe 200 meters down if you need water or snacks, and the bus stop for the 473 line is right there – takes you straight to Los Gigantes cliffs, which, trust me, you’ll want to see.

What really separates this place from the cookie-cutter hotels though is the attention to… well, things that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The rooms feel like someone who travels designed them – outlets where you need them, decent lighting for reading, and bathrooms that don’t require contortionist skills to use the shower. The staff genuinely seems to know the area; I asked about hiking trails and got actual directions with landmarks, not just a glossy brochure. The pool area manages to feel spacious even when it’s busy (probably because they don’t cram in twice as many chairs as they should), and there’s this little bar area that makes proper coffee, not hotel lobby coffee – you know the difference. The 9.6 rating honestly doesn’t surprise me because it’s those small things that add up: check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the property, and housekeeping doesn’t rearrange your stuff into unrecognizable configurations. Look, it’s not the fanciest place on the island, and if you’re expecting marble everything and a spa menu longer than a novella, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want somewhere that feels like a really good hotel rather than a theme park with beds, where you can walk to decent restaurants (try the tapas place around the corner from the bus stop) and still escape to the beach when you want to, then yeah – this is the kind of place you’ll actually want to come back to.

  The house was so lovely, all the bedrooms and bathrooms were great. The kitchen was well stocked. The staff was really helpful and very responsive.
  
  What could be improved: Entering and exiting the garage was difficult. There was also an issue with door for the room in the basement which locked and we couldn't open it for a couple of days. A couple of our guests were stuck in the room when it first happened and needed to use the garage to get into the main house. It seemed that this was a once off incident.

  Great villa for a holiday in Tenerife
  
  We stayed in the villa with two families.
  The 4 bedrooms were perfect for our company. We especially liked the fact that the ground floor bedroom comfortably accommodated three children who were happy to live on a separate floor with their own bathroom, TV and separate internet connection.
  
  Next I will simply list the advantages of the villa:
  
  Terrace with magical ocean views and comfortable outdoor beach furniture
  Private swimming pool with heated water + 26 – 27 °C
  Outdoor shower with warm water
  Modern kitchen with all necessary kitchen equipment, including a gas grill on the terrace.
  Beach towels for all guests
  underground garage parking
  washing machine and dryer
  Lidl and Mercadona 7 minutes walk from the villa
  
  And most importantly, we always had Sylvianne, the property manager, on hand to answer all our questions and make sure our holiday was perfect.

  It is well located for sun and wind. It is very good for 8 people and the basement is good for teenagers. It is a short walk to the grocery shop and nice to have car park for 2 cars

  Modern property, clean and well furnished, Outdoor space with lovely view. Spacious accommodation.
  Facilities at Los Gigantes attractive as was the harbour and beach.
  
  What could be improved: Lack of instructions for appliances etc. No fresh linen or cleaning after first week. Linen supplied only after request.
  Unfortunate experience with copious black lava dust inside and outside due to works being undertaken alongside property.
  Next door annoying dog barking at all hours.

  Es war einfach perfekt, von der Begrüßung über die Ausstattung bis zum traumhaften Ausblick.
  Absoluter Pluspunkt ist die Tiefgarage und vorm Tor konnte auch unser zweites Auto stehen. Der Pool ist perfekt vorallem mit Kindern. Die Küche war ausreichend ausgestattet. Fußläufig gibt es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Auto ist trotzdem von Vorteil.
