Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Monolocale on Avenida Familia de Betancourt y Molina, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that surprise you. This little gem sits in one of those quieter stretches of Puerto de la Cruz where you actually hear birds in the morning instead of just traffic, and it’s maybe a 7-minute walk down to the black sand beaches that make this corner of Tenerife so distinctive.

The thing about Monolocale is that it gets the basics really, really right. I mean, sure, it’s not going to blow you away with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but the rooms are thoughtfully designed – and I actually mean thoughtfully, not just “modern” like every hotel claims. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (I’m talking real knives that actually cut, not those useless hotel butter knives), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock. What really got me was how quiet it stays, even during the busier months. The building’s set back just enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with the late-night crowds heading back from the bars near Plaza del Charco, but you’re still close enough to walk everywhere you’d want to go.

The staff here – and this is where you can tell it’s a place that cares – actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about good local spots for breakfast, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. They sent me to this tiny café about three blocks away where the locals go for proper Spanish coffee and fresh pastries. That’s the kind of insight you get from people who’ve been working in the same area for years, not from some corporate training manual. The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you realize this isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-run place that understands what travelers actually need (decent WiFi, hot water that doesn’t run out after five minutes, and enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase). Puerto de la Cruz can get pretty touristy, especially around the main plaza, but staying on this particular street gives you that sweet spot of being connected to everything while still feeling like you’re in a real neighborhood where people actually live.

  The apartment looks so much better in person than the pictures, we were nicely surprised. It has all what is needed for a vacation and it is very spacious and clean. The location is just perfect – close to the sea, few minutes walk to the main streets and nearby are located two big supermarkets. At the same time it was very quiet and safe. The owner Enza is so kind and friendly and she always made sure we felt comfortable during our stay. We loved the place and we would choose it again if we ever come back to Puerto de la Cruz.

  La chica es muy agradable y el piso es práctico y está bien ubicado.
  
  What could be improved: El edificio tiene un restaurante abajo y huele a curry, si no te gusta ese olor no lo recomiendo, pero no es culpa del piso. Lo demás bien, solo que la puerta del apartamento tiene truco y es un poco incómodo abrirla (nada exagerado).
