Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of vacation rentals across the Canary Islands, and this little gem on Centenillo really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When I first walked up to number 8, honestly, the building itself doesn’t look like much from the street (most Santa Cruz residential blocks don’t), but once you’re inside this apartment, you immediately get why they call it “recien reformado.” Everything feels crisp and thoughtfully updated, from the sleek kitchen fixtures to the way they’ve maximized natural light throughout the space.

What really sold me on this place was how genuinely modern it feels without losing that authentic Tenerife character. The renovation work here wasn’t just slapping some IKEA furniture together – I mean, there’s clearly been real thought put into the layout and finishes. The bathroom especially impressed me with its clean lines and actually decent water pressure (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in older Spanish buildings). Plus, being right in Santa Cruz means you’re walking distance to the real action – I could easily stroll to the Saturday morning market at Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África, and the main shopping areas around Calle Castillo are maybe ten minutes on foot. The location also puts you close enough to hear the city’s pulse without dealing with tourist crowds, since this is where locals actually live and work.

Here’s the thing about staying on Centenillo – you’re positioned perfectly between the port area and the more residential neighborhoods climbing up the hills. I found myself walking to different tapas spots each evening, discovering places that definitely don’t make it into most guidebooks. The apartment itself handles four stars pretty well, though I’d say the rating feels earned rather than generous. Small details matter when you’re settling in for more than a night or two, and they’ve gotten most of them right – decent wifi, proper blackout options for the bedroom, and a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Mercadona down the street. The only minor thing I’d mention is that street parking can get a bit tight during weekday mornings (everyone heading to work), but honestly, that’s just Santa Cruz being Santa Cruz. This spot delivers exactly what it promises without any of the usual vacation rental surprises, and sometimes that reliability is exactly what you need when you’re trying to experience a place like a local rather than just passing through.

  The apartment was quite nice with spacious livingroom.
  
  What could be improved: First of all couple of days before our stay they asked us for 100€ deposit which I never experienced before with booking.com. They claimed they will return it within a week after our stay but they haven't. I had to write to them and ask for it. They said they had an internal problem with bank or something. I had to ask 2 more times and I received my money back after 3 weeks only when I said I want my money back immediately or I will write to booking.com.
  Second, before our stay they sent a list of things what we can't do and prices/fines if we do so which was quite stressful.
  Third, it was pretty noisy. There is a road behind the apartment and the noices from the street were loud also during the night.
  There is a dishwasher but there were no capsules. When I asked the host for it, they said we need to buy our own "like we are at home". I find this ridiculous to buy a pack of capsules for 3 nights at the apartment…

  Apartment is exactly as on photos. Very comfortable and almost new. Equipped well.
  Nice touches like photo albums, music loudspeaker, lightstands which gave us relaxing vibe.
  We also were welcomed with bottle of good wine, which was very hospitable.
  Quiet neighbourhood with locals and near to highway.
  Very nice outdoors with some plants. Private parking was very safe. There is outside bar with kitchen utensils like barbecue, planchas, skillets etc.
  We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back.
  
  What could be improved: Only one kitchen knife, which was not very sharp.
  No dischwasher or washing machine powder which I was aware beforehand but IMHO it just should be provided.
  You get detailed deposit terms and conditions post downpayment so you can be surprised reading that you might be charged in case staining sheets and towels. I imagined it was standard procedure to bleach in 90 degrees in accomodation business… and I was sorry to read that guest from UK was charged for stains.
  You have great facility and it is a pity to treat guest like that.

  The property was clean and spacious, good facilities but you need a car to get into town.
  
  What could be improved: We had a great time staying there but unfortunately the property kept 50 pounds of our deposit which I have been trying to get back with no success. I actually had to email them 3 and a half weeks after our stay, after already emailing them prior to this regarding the deposit as they had not been in touch with us or advised when we would recieve our deposit back and were still holding the money. I was sent an image of a bit of blood on the bed sheet which I wasn't aware of and I advised it must have been from my period. I explained it can be bleached then washed or there are a number of methods to remove a bit of blood. The property then didn't get in touch again and when I enquired as to what was happening they advised that they couldn't remove it from the sheet and had to clean it a number of times then replace it. I am a travelling artist who is on tour every weekend in hotels and apartments and I have never encountered having a deposit kept over a small bit of blood on a sheet that is easily removable. I can understand if I had broken something but this seems very excessive to me and unfortunately with a long back and forth I've had no luck getting this money back from them. The accommodation should know how to clean a sheet and not penalise their guests for such a thing. It's absolutely ridiculous and I would not go there again based on this.

  El alojamiento fue espectacular. Buenas instalaciones y todo perfecto. Es un buen sitio para disfrutar de Tenerife en coche, ya que está cerca del aeropuerto y te puedes mover desde allí.
