Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the address for Mirador Playa San Marcos, I thought “apartment building hotel” and wasn’t expecting much. But you know what? This little gem on Paseo Las Americas actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself is pretty typical Canarian architecture, nothing fancy, but once you’re inside apartment 308, the whole vibe changes. The views toward the coast are genuinely stunning, especially if you catch the sunset from the right angle – and trust me, you’ll want to time that right because it’s something special.
What really got me was how the owners have made this feel like a proper hotel experience despite being in a residential building. The setup is smart – you’ve got all the space and privacy of an apartment rental, but with actual hotel-style service and attention to detail. The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Icod de los Vinos like a local rather than a tourist. You’re walking distance from the town center (I mean, it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll), and the famous Drago Milenario is right there when you want to do the obligatory ancient tree photos. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize – you’re also perfectly positioned to explore the less touristy parts of the northern coast, which honestly have some of the most dramatic coastlines on Tenerife.
The practical stuff matters too, and they’ve got it sorted. Parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in some Canarian towns – there’s usually street parking nearby, though like anywhere here, it gets trickier during the summer months. The building’s pretty quiet most of the time, which I appreciated after staying in some of the busier resort areas where you can’t escape the poolside music. One small thing – the check-in process is a bit different since it’s apartment-style, so just make sure you coordinate arrival times properly. The hosts are really responsive though, so it’s not a big deal. What I loved most was how this place let me experience the real Icod de los Vinos – morning coffee runs to the local bakery, evening walks when the locals are out, that kind of authentic island life you miss when you’re stuck in the typical hotel bubble. For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight, and that 8 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here.

The view was exceptional and the value for money, the location is great. I stayed an extra night.
What could be improved: The following is constructive. I liked staying there but the property needs modernisation , it’s very dated. The cooker has gas so the apartment needs a Carbon monoxide alarm. The kettle is dangerous, it doesn’t stop boiling and the handle gets way too hot, you cannot grip it. There is a dangerous exposed plug in kitchen. The toilet cistern is extremely loud and continues for hours. Difficult to sleep with it. Shower needs a better shower curtain as the water goes everywhere. It is a very nice apartment with a spectacular view of the ocean. Very close to the beach. The host was nice and waited for us with the key.

The place is amazing and the owner was really nice to meet us and give us the keys. The location has breathtaking landscapes and a bus line that can take you to a place with more central infrastructure.

The most amazing thing in this appartement was the view 😍 ❤️ if I stayed at the appartement I spent all the time at the terrace. 1 big bed, soft pillows, another bed was not so comfortable. The owner left 1 bottles of water , that was good
What could be improved: Flat is need renovation. Supermarket is 2 km from the appartement. Two last days I could not have shower because the gaz finished , so I took cooking pot to heat the water and to wash my body.It's ok if you don't spend much time there as me. View from the balcony is amazing.
What could be improved: The balcony door couldn't lock properly, this might make someone feel unsafe od uncomfortable. There was moisture in the air, wet clothes didn't dry well. The view was stunning it was nice to sit and watch the ocean. It was clean and comfortable.

The host was very helpful. Fantastic views from balcony. We spent all our evenings there. Very quiet place. Pretty cool in the room even without air conditioning. It's nice to sleep hearing the ocean.
What could be improved: Pillows were not comfortable.
