First Impressions

Walking into Medano Beach – Villa Playa, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I was hoping for” feeling. It’s one of those four-star places that doesn’t try too hard — the lobby has this relaxed coastal vibe that tells you right away you’re somewhere special. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which honestly surprised me. You know what really caught my attention though? The way the whole place feels like it belongs in El Médano rather than fighting against it.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about El Médano that most people don’t realize until they get here — it’s got this perfect balance of being a real working town while still having that incredible beach everyone talks about. The hotel sits right on Avenida Europa, which means you’re literally a two-minute walk from Playa de El Médano. I mean, you can hear the waves from some rooms, but it’s not overwhelming. The windsurfing crowd loves this spot (Tenerife’s southeast coast gets these consistent trade winds), so there’s always something interesting happening on the water. Plus, you’ve got actual restaurants where locals eat, not just tourist traps.

The Rooms

The rooms at Medano Beach – Villa Playa have this clean, unfussy design that works really well with the ocean light streaming through the windows. Most have either sea views or at least partial glimpses of the water — and honestly, even the partial views are worth it because you get these amazing sunrises. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. What I really appreciated was the little balcony or terrace that comes with most rooms. It’s nothing fancy, but having that outdoor space where you can have your morning coffee while watching the kitesurfers set up? That’s the kind of detail that makes a difference.

The Beach Experience

You’re staying at a place called Medano Beach for a reason, right? Well, the actual beach delivers completely. It’s this long stretch of golden sand that never feels crowded, even during peak season. The water stays relatively calm on the hotel side, but if you walk a bit further down, you hit the windsurf and kitesurf zone where things get more exciting. I spent hours just watching people launch their kites — there’s something mesmerizing about it. The beach bars are decent too, though I’d recommend wandering into town for dinner rather than staying beachside all day.

Why Guests Love It

Look, couples absolutely adore this place, and after staying here I totally get why. There’s something about the combination of being right on the beach but still feeling connected to an authentic Canarian town that just works. The free parking is actually a huge deal if you’re planning to explore the island (and you should — the drive up to Teide National Park is incredible). But mostly, it’s that Medano Beach – Villa Playa manages to feel both relaxing and energizing at the same time. You can spend the morning lounging by the sea, then walk into El Médano for lunch at a family-run restaurant, and somehow both experiences feel perfectly natural.

  The villa is nicely furnished, it has all you may need, not sure if summer time would be enjoyable though as there is no AC, but the location is fairly ventilated and I guess may help during summer time.
  Kitchen area is open and enjoyable, the rear side of the property overlooks the sea side and is a very enjoyable spot to sit down and relax.

  The location was perfect with just a ten minute walk to a beautiful beach. Also very close to everything you need during a holiday. We enjoyed the view from the terraces and also the jacuzzi was very enjoyable! Amazing hosts that got us a bed for the kid when we asked about it! Very clean and nice and we hope to visit again!

  We had a fabulous stay here and absolutely will be going back. The house was so spacious, even with 3 children and 2 adults. Stunning views, everything there you could possibly need, very clean and really felt like a home. Lovely shops and restaurants in El Medano too. But the greatest was the wonderful hosts who really looked after us and went way and above to make it a wonderful holiday, thank you so much xxx
