Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along Tenerife’s coast, and Villa Playa just hits different. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone actually thought about this”? That’s what happened here. The location on Avenida Europa puts you maybe a three-minute walk from El Médano’s main beach – and I mean the good part of the beach, not the windy section where all the kitesurfers are battling for space (though honestly, watching them isn’t terrible either).

What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep things feeling relaxed without being sloppy about it. The rooms are properly spacious – I mean, you can actually open your suitcase without having to move furniture around, which is rarer than it should be in Spanish beach hotels. The balconies face different directions depending on your room, but even the ones without direct ocean views catch these amazing evening breezes that make the whole place feel alive. And the pool area? It’s sized just right – big enough that you’re not bumping into people, small enough that it doesn’t feel like you’re swimming in a municipal facility. They’ve got these loungers that are actually comfortable (not the plastic torture devices you find at most places), and the whole setup feels more like hanging out at a friend’s house than being at a hotel.

The staff here seems to actually live in the area, which makes such a difference when you need recommendations. They’ll tell you about the little tapas place two streets over that doesn’t look like much but does incredible seafood, or when the local market happens, or which days the beach gets packed with families versus when it’s mostly just the serious windsurfers. El Médano itself is this weird perfect balance – it’s got enough going on that you won’t get bored, but it’s not overrun with the cruise ship crowds you get in the bigger resort towns. The red mountain (Montaña Roja) is right there if you want a quick hike with ridiculous views, and the whole town has this laid-back vibe where people actually seem to be enjoying their vacations instead of just checking things off a list. Villa Playa fits right into that energy – it’s the kind of place where you might actually extend your stay by a day or two because leaving feels premature. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you’re there; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but everything works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  The villa is nicely furnished, it has all you may need, not sure if summer time would be enjoyable though as there is no AC, but the location is fairly ventilated and I guess may help during summer time.
  Kitchen area is open and enjoyable, the rear side of the property overlooks the sea side and is a very enjoyable spot to sit down and relax.

  The location was perfect with just a ten minute walk to a beautiful beach. Also very close to everything you need during a holiday. We enjoyed the view from the terraces and also the jacuzzi was very enjoyable! Amazing hosts that got us a bed for the kid when we asked about it! Very clean and nice and we hope to visit again!

  This is a truly beautiful property with all of the amenities you would need. The hosts really have gone out of their way to make it comfortable.

  We had a fabulous stay here and absolutely will be going back. The house was so spacious, even with 3 children and 2 adults. Stunning views, everything there you could possibly need, very clean and really felt like a home. Lovely shops and restaurants in El Medano too. But the greatest was the wonderful hosts who really looked after us and went way and above to make it a wonderful holiday, thank you so much xxx
