You know what’s funny about the Martimar Candelaria? I almost walked right past it on Calle Neptuno because it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside – it’s got this understated, almost residential vibe that actually works in its favor. I mean, when you’re staying in Candelaria, you don’t want some flashy tourist trap anyway; you want something that feels like it belongs in this charming little coastal town.

The thing that really got me was how the staff just… gets it. Like, they’re not trying to oversell you on excursions or upsell you at every turn. The woman at reception (honestly can’t remember her name, but she had this great laugh) told me exactly which direction to walk for the best views of the basilica without me even asking – she just saw me looking at the tourist map all confused and jumped in. That’s the kind of place this is. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star, nothing revolutionary but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The beds are actually comfortable (not too soft, not like sleeping on concrete), and here’s something I really appreciated – the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway. Sleep is sacred when you’re traveling, you know?

What really makes this place special though is the location within Candelaria itself. You’re literally a 5-minute walk from the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, and honestly, experiencing that place early in the morning before the tour buses arrive is worth the stay alone. But beyond the obvious religious site, you’re also perfectly positioned for those evening strolls along the waterfront where locals are actually hanging out – not just tourists taking selfies. The hotel sits just far enough back from the main drag that you avoid the daytime crowds but close enough that you can pop out for coffee or one of those incredible bocadillos at the little café around the corner (I think it’s called Bar Guanche, but don’t quote me on that). Parking was surprisingly painless too, which if you’ve driven around Tenerife, you know is basically a miracle. There’s street parking right there, and I never had to circle more than once to find a spot. That 9.5 rating isn’t just people being generous – this place delivers on the fundamentals without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Todo fantástico. Una de las cosas a destacar es la anfitriona, Ángela, su atención, amabilidad y flexibilidad. El apartamento está renovado, la decoración al detalle, las camas comodísimas y la ducha con presión 🙂 . Tiene una pequeña terraza de la que pudimos disfrutar con vistas laterales al mar, tuvimos suerte y se veía incluso Gran Canaria desde la terraza. La ubicación es excelente, cerca de tiendas, restaurantes, el mar. También pudimos aparcar el coche fácilmente en una calle cerca del apartamento. Recomendable 100%. Muchas gracias, Ángela, nos sentimos cuidadas en todo momento. 🙂

  El apartamento está muy bien. Esta todo recien reformado. La cama comodísima y gigante, la cocina y baño super bien equipados y encima con detalle de bienvenida. Además la ubicación es perfecta si quieres huir de la masificación turística. Y tanto Ángela como su marido muy atentos. Responden super rápido ante cualquier duda.
