You know what really struck me about MarMédano Apartamento 1? It’s tucked away on this narrow little street called Calle Miguel el Pescador – and I mean narrow, like you’ll actually wonder if you’re in the right place at first. But that’s exactly what makes it special. While everyone else is fighting for spots right on the beachfront, you’re literally a two-minute walk from El Médano’s gorgeous sandy stretch, but without the constant foot traffic and street noise that comes with those prime locations. The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel – there’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t get with sterile resort accommodations.

The whole setup here is honestly perfect for El Médano’s vibe. This town isn’t about luxury resorts or flashy amenities (thank god), it’s about wind, waves, and that laid-back Canarian atmosphere that feels authentic. The apartment reflects that perfectly – it’s got everything you actually need without trying too hard. The kitchen’s properly equipped, which matters because the local market on Calle Medina is incredible and you’ll want to cook some of that fresh fish yourself. Plus, parking around here can be… well, let’s just say it’s typical small Spanish town parking, but they’ve got it sorted for guests. I actually appreciated how the host gave me the real scoop about timing – avoid trying to park during the afternoon when everyone’s heading to the beach, but mornings and evenings are no problem.

What really sold me on this place was how it fits into the neighborhood. You’re close enough to hear the wind (which is constant here – that’s why the windsurfers love it), but the building’s positioned so you’re not getting blasted by it. The rating of 9.5 makes total sense once you spend a night here; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, it just does everything right. Walk five minutes and you’re at Playa de El Médano where the kite surfers are doing their thing, or head the other direction toward the red mountain (Montaña Roja) for those Instagram-worthy sunset shots. Honestly, for a four-star place, it punches above its weight because it understands its location. This isn’t Tenerife’s party zone or its luxury corner – it’s the spot where you come to actually relax, maybe learn to windsurf, and eat ridiculously good papas arrugadas at the local joints. The apartment gets that, and it’s set up for people who picked El Médano on purpose, not by accident.

  This apartment was a phenomenal experience….probably the best I had through Booking. There are so many details that were done right:
  – the fridge was stocked with water, wine, butter, jam
  – there was a fresh loaf of bread waiting upon arrival
  – a full fruit basket
  – the bedrooms have thick curtains so that one can sleep in the full darkness
  – the bathroom had 1+ sets of towels, so we did not need to wash them during our 10 day stay
  – laundry machine was impeccable and came with detergent
  – AC units in ALL rooms (AC is a rare find in town)
  – awesome coffee-breakfast place right under the flat
