Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Marina Suites Tenerife? It’s that moment when you walk in and realize this isn’t just another cookie-cutter hotel trying too hard to impress. The lobby has this understated elegance – marble floors that actually feel cool under your feet after walking Puerto de la Cruz’s sun-baked streets, and staff who seem genuinely happy to see you rather than just going through the motions. I mean, with a 9.2 rating, I had high expectations, but honestly? They delivered without being flashy about it.

The location on Calle San Juan is pretty brilliant if you know Puerto de la Cruz at all. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the black sand beaches of Playa Jardín (though let’s be real, that volcanic sand gets everywhere), and the old town’s charm is right at your doorstep. What I loved is how you can slip out in the evening and wander down to the harbor area without dealing with the tourist crowds that swarm around the bigger resorts. The rooms themselves – well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 4-star, but it’s the little things that matter. The balconies actually have space to sit and enjoy your morning coffee, not just enough room to dry your swimsuit. And the air conditioning works properly, which trust me, matters more than you think when you’re dealing with Tenerife’s humidity in summer.

Here’s what really sold me on the place though – the pool area doesn’t feel like a scene from a crowded beach club. You can actually find a quiet spot to read without kids shrieking in your ear (though there’s a separate area for families, which is thoughtful). The restaurant serves decent food too, not just the typical hotel buffet nightmare. I actually ended up eating breakfast there most mornings because their fresh fruit selection was better than what I found wandering around town. Parking can be a bit tricky – the hotel has spaces but Puerto de la Cruz’s narrow streets take some getting used to if you’re renting a car. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 3 PM because they’re pretty strict about room availability before then. One small thing that bugged me was the WiFi getting spotty on the higher floors, but honestly, maybe that’s not the worst thing when you’re supposed to be on vacation. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like a thoughtful retreat than a tourist factory, Marina Suites gets it right without trying too hard to be something it’s not.

Reviews

  • A clean room with great location – Junpeng from Austria – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

Super location; harbor view from the room; the room is clean

What could be improved: The hot water lasted no more than 15 mins. This is difficult for two person to take a shower in a row.

  • Lovely apartment, great views ideal spot – Celia from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: A smell in the bathroom and we were there when the septic tank was emptied, the smell was horrendous

  • Delighted with the apartment facilities and location. – Penny from United Kingdom – 8 February 2025 (9/10)

View over the harbour. Sitting on the balcony people watching and listening to live music. Comfortable bed. Efficient shower with endless hot water. Well equipped kitchen with a kettle.
The plants in the lobby. Security. Proximity to shops and restaurants.

What could be improved: Street noise in the early morning.
Lack of comfortable seating, the balcony chairs were only good for half an hour, same for the dining chairs, which were a little low.

  • Best location in Puerto de la Cruz – Janet from Ireland – 17 January 2025 (9/10)

Location is second to none. Great viewing point from the balcony.
Apartment is nice and comfortable and well equipped

What could be improved: A harder pillow would have been good

  • Exceptional – David from United Kingdom – 13 January 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is well located overlooking the old harbour and with easy access to all parts of the town and its facilities. Calle San Juan has some very good restaurants and cafes, more local and authentic than those along the sea front.

The apartment itself is a good size for 1 or 2 people. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom has a very good shower and there are basic kitchen facilities including 2 hobs and a coffee machine. There is an iron and drying rack on the balcony but no washing machine. There are laundrettes nearby if you need them.

It is part of a residential and tourist block with a leafy inner courtyard. The apartment is kept clean and in good order by the hosts, Maria and Raul, who are also very friendly and helpful.

There is one main room with the kitchen, bed, and table and chairs, and there is a TV. I particularly enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the harbour, though note this area can get quite busy, particularly at festive times.

There is no heating or air-conditioning but you don't need them as the climate is warm all year round.

What could be improved: I would have liked a kettle but you can use the coffee machine to heat water.

  • Great location, views over the harbour, modern, clean apartment. Very comfortable bed. – Susan from United Kingdom – 22 March 2024 (10/10)

Self catering. Front line location, near shops, bars, restaurants, large car park.
Large, light and airy apartment. Beautiful internal hallway with large tropical plants and singing birds. Highly recommend.

What could be improved: As we were already on the island an earlier key collection time would have been appreciated, as we arrived at midday. Just hoped our belongings were safe in the public car park, as a few odd characters around. There is another underground car park near if you pay.

  • A repeat of above, Location Location Location – Feardorcha from Ireland – 11 April 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: No dislikes

  • Very good – Helen from United Kingdom – 23 March 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was immaculate, and in a great location. We were worried it might be noisy but music from the bars finished by 10pm
Large free car park at Esplanada de Muelle
