Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Santa Cruz, and Macaronesia Home actually surprised me – in the best way possible. It’s tucked right on Calle San Juan Bautista, which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the main shopping area, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: this little street is surprisingly quiet at night. I mean, you’d expect some noise being so central, but the way the buildings are positioned, you don’t get the typical city racket that keeps you up.

The place itself feels more like staying at a really well-organized friend’s apartment than a traditional hotel. The staff – and I’m pretty sure the same woman checked me in both times I’ve stayed here – actually remembers your name and asks how your day exploring went. Not in that fake hospitality way, but like she genuinely cares. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. Everything works (and I mean everything – the shower pressure is fantastic, the AC actually cools the room, the wifi doesn’t cut out every five minutes). You know what really got me though? They have these little local touches everywhere. There’s this beautiful tile work in the bathrooms that’s clearly inspired by traditional Canarian design, and the breakfast includes some regional specialties that you won’t find at the big chain hotels.

Here’s what makes this place special for me: they understand that travelers want to feel connected to where they are, not isolated from it. The location puts you right in the mix of real Santa Cruz life. You can walk to the Mercado de Nuestra Señora de África in about eight minutes – and trust me, go there for lunch, not just to look around. The Auditorio de Tenerife is close enough for evening shows, but far enough that you’re not dealing with event crowds at your doorstep. Parking can be a bit tricky around here (it’s the city center, what do you expect?), but the hotel staff will point you toward the nearest public garage, and honestly, you probably won’t need a car much once you’re settled in. The whole historic quarter is walkable, and the tram system is right there when you want to venture further out. I’d definitely stay here again – it’s one of those places that gets the balance right between comfort and authenticity, which is harder to find than you’d think.

  Die Lage des Apartments ist perfekt. Alles lässt sich zu Fuß gut erreichen und man ist mitten im urbanen Leben. Die Ausstattung ist durchdacht und geschmackvoll. Man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Alles da, was man braucht, um sich auch mal selbst zu versorgen. Der Balkon ist ein lauschiger Platz, um in den Abend zu starten oder ihn ausklingen zu lassen.

  Sehr gute Lage, es war alles vorhanden, vor allem zwei wirklich getrennte Schlafzimmer ( das wird oft falsch dargestellt bei anderen Vermietern), ein großes Bad und ein geräumiges Wohnzimmer. Nah bei allen Geschäften und zur Tram. Balkon tagsüber sehr nett.
