So here’s the thing about Luz Del Mar – it’s tucked away in Los Silos, which honestly most people drive right through on their way to somewhere else on Tenerife’s north coast. But that’s actually what makes this place special, you know? The hotel sits right on Avenida Sibora, which sounds fancy but it’s really just the main drag through this sleepy fishing town that hasn’t been completely overtaken by tourism yet.

I mean, don’t get me wrong – it’s definitely a proper hotel with that 4-star polish, and the 8.8 rating makes sense once you’re there. The lobby has this understated coastal vibe that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. What really got me though was stepping out onto their terrace in the morning and realizing you’re literally looking at the Atlantic without any resort towers blocking the view. Los Silos is still small enough that you can walk to the black sand beach in about three minutes, and there’s this little seafront promenade where locals actually hang out – not just tourists taking selfies. The parking situation is pretty straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven around the Canary Islands will appreciate.

The rooms are well… they’re comfortable without being flashy. Clean lines, decent bathroom, and honestly the bed was better than I expected. You can hear the ocean from most rooms, which is either soothing or keeps you up depending on your perspective. What I loved was how quiet it gets at night – Los Silos basically rolls up the sidewalks after dinner, so you’re not dealing with any nightclub nonsense. During the day you’ve got this perfect base for exploring the north coast without staying in one of those massive resort complexes in Puerto de la Cruz. The staff seemed genuinely local, which always makes a difference – they actually knew which guachinche to recommend (that’s the local family-run restaurants, by the way) and could tell you when the waves would be good for a swim versus when they’d knock you over. I’d say if you’re looking for that authentic Canarian coastal experience without roughing it, and you don’t need a pool the size of a small lake, Luz Del Mar hits that sweet spot perfectly.
