Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in the Canary Islands, but this villa in Adeje actually surprised me. When you pull up to 17 Calle Baleares, it doesn’t look like much from the street – honestly, most of these residential areas in Adeje are pretty understated. But once you’re inside, you get why this place has that 8.5 rating.
The heated pool is the real star here, and I mean that literally. Most vacation rentals with pools? The water’s freezing half the year, especially in winter when the wind whips down from Teide. Not here. I was swimming comfortably in February while listening to other tourists complain about cold hotel pools down in Playa de las Américas. The pool area gets sun most of the day too, which matters more than you’d think – a lot of these villas are tucked into hillsides where you lose light by 3 PM. The outdoor space feels genuinely private, not like you’re performing for the neighbors every time you want to relax.
What I really appreciated was how well thought out everything felt inside. The kitchen actually has proper knives and decent pans – you know how most rental kitchens are equipped with the saddest, most bent utensils known to humanity? Not here. The bedrooms stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, and the master bedroom has this view toward the coast that’s particularly nice at sunset. The WiFi worked everywhere, which seems obvious but trust me, it’s not always a given in these older residential areas. Parking was straightforward too, which is huge because finding a spot down in the tourist zones is basically a contact sport.
The location hits that sweet spot of being close enough to everything but far enough to feel like you’re not trapped in tourist central. You’re maybe ten minutes from the beach at Playa del Duque if you want the fancy resort vibe, or fifteen minutes to Costa Adeje for restaurants and nightlife. But honestly, some of my favorite meals happened at Casa Tomás just a few streets over – locals go there, portions are massive, and it’s about half the price of the beachfront places. The Siam Mall is close if you need groceries or want to escape the heat for a few hours, and there’s a decent hiking trail that starts practically around the corner if you’re into that sort of thing.
Is it perfect? Well, the neighbors can get a bit chatty in the evenings – Spanish families really know how to enjoy their outdoor time, if you know what I mean. And if you’re expecting resort-level service, this isn’t that kind of place. But for a proper villa experience where you can actually spread out and live like a person instead of cramming into a hotel room? I’d definitely book it again. The heated pool alone makes it worth considering, especially if you’re visiting outside the peak summer months when most places feel like you’re paying premium prices to shiver by a cold pool.
