You know what? I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Tenerife, but Live Masca hit different – and I mean that in the best way possible. First off, getting there is half the adventure (fair warning: those mountain roads are no joke), but once you’re winding up through the valley toward Calle la Piedra, you start to get why this place has a 9.7 rating. The traditional Canarian architecture isn’t just for show here – these estudio casas actually feel like they belong in the landscape, not like someone just dropped a generic hotel on top of it. The “only adults” thing might seem limiting, but honestly? After dealing with screaming kids at poolside bars elsewhere on the island, the peaceful vibe here is exactly what you didn’t know you needed.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to keep that authentic Masca village feeling while still giving you proper comfort. The studios – and I’ve seen plenty of cramped “studio” situations that are basically closets – actually have space to breathe. You’ll find yourself making coffee in the morning and just standing at the window looking out at those dramatic cliffs, wondering how this tiny village even exists tucked into the mountains like this. The staff knows the area inside and out, which matters more than you’d think when you’re staying somewhere this remote. They’ll tell you the real story about the hiking trails (not just the tourist brochure version), and more importantly, they know which restaurants in the village are worth the walk and which ones are just tourist traps.

Here’s the thing about Masca that most people don’t realize until they’re here – it’s not just a quick photo stop on your way to somewhere else. This village has this incredible energy once the day-trippers leave around 5 PM. The silence is almost overwhelming at first, especially if you’re coming from Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas, but then you start hearing the actual sounds of the place: birds you can’t identify, the wind moving through the palm trees, maybe some distant conversation from the locals. Live Masca gets this – they’re not trying to recreate the busy resort experience up here in the mountains. The whole setup feels intentional, like someone actually thought about what kind of traveler would seek out this corner of Tenerife and what they’d want from their stay. Sure, you’re not going to have five restaurants and a spa downstairs, but you’re also not going to have crowds of people taking selfies outside your window at 7 AM either. If you’re the type who gets genuinely excited about discovering places that feel untouched by mass tourism – and I mean actually untouched, not just marketed that way – then this is your spot.
