Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Landmar Playa La Arena, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It’s one of those modern apartment-style complexes that dot the Tenerife coastline, but you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t need to show off from the street.

The location in Puerto de Santiago is actually pretty brilliant once you get your bearings. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Playa de la Arena – and I mean the black sand beach that most tourists never even know exists because they’re all crowded onto the main strips. The contrast is stunning, honestly. That dark volcanic sand against the turquoise water, with the cliffs of Los Gigantes rising up in the distance like some ancient wall. Most mornings I’d grab coffee from the little café on Calle El Lajial (just around the corner) and walk down to watch the sun hit those cliffs. The beach gets busy around 11 AM, but before that? It’s like having your own private stretch of Atlantic coastline.

What really won me over about this place was how it strikes that perfect balance between having everything you need without feeling like a tourist factory. The apartments are spacious – I mean genuinely spacious, not hotel-brochure spacious – with proper kitchens and balconies that actually fit more than one person. The pool area never felt overcrowded, even during peak season, and there’s this nice lazy river thing that the kids go crazy for. Parking was never an issue either, which… well, anyone who’s driven around Tenerife knows that’s basically a miracle. The staff at reception were the kind of helpful where they’d actually draw you a little map to the good hiking trails instead of just pointing vaguely toward Los Gigantes. Speaking of which, the Masca Gorge trailhead is maybe twenty minutes by car if you’re into that sort of adventure – just don’t attempt it in flip-flops like I saw some poor soul trying to do.

The only thing that might throw some people off is that this isn’t your typical all-inclusive resort experience. There’s no fancy lobby with marble floors or uniformed staff hovering around. But honestly? That’s exactly why it works. You’re staying in a real place where actual people live, not some sterile vacation bubble. The nearby restaurants – especially that little family-run place down toward the marina – serve food that locals actually eat. And when you’re sitting on your balcony in the evening, listening to the waves and maybe some distant Spanish conversation from the street below, it feels authentic in a way that those big resort complexes just can’t match. For the price point and that 8.9 rating, it’s exactly what you’d hope for: comfortable, well-located, and real enough that you might actually miss it when you leave.

Fantastic, modern, clean. Very big open areas and plenty of light. Wonderful staff in ALL areas of the hotel. Quiet in the night despite being busy during the evening. Great variety in the buffet.

Friendly staff and exceptional service: thanks to the receptionist Daniel my holiday has started very well since the first step I took into the hotel. Lunch grill restaurant is highly recommended;) and the waiters there take such good care if there guests! The infinity pool for those with platinum stay has a great view. Not just there is a beach close by, but also natural baths right in the ocean (30 min walk). Balconies are huge with a marvelous ocean view. What else would you wish for?!:-) big thanks.

Beautifully laid out interior and exterior areas of the hotel, that used the landscape and light very well to enhance the whole ambience of the place. The rooms have everything you might need, were spacious, very clean and comfortable, and the mattress on the bed was excellent.
Great location overlooking the beach, which easy access to all the local amenities- especially the walkway along the coast to Los Gigantes. And bus stops very close to the hotel. Great airport shuttle bus service at an excellent price.

This is an easy review. This place was perfect! I was looking for an effortless escape with sunshine, and that's exactly what I got from this hotel. All the staff were friendly and attentive, and you could tell they were genuinely happy to be there and wanted to make sure you had a great stay.

There was a gentleman (well dressed staff member, assume a manager) walking around the hotel speaking to guests and he was genuinely interested in how guest's stays were (not in an annoying feedback request way).

The food was amazing and such a huge variety in the buffet. The one night I had a booked dinner at the restaurant, it was delicious and super fast service. Also very kind and attentive staff.

The room was great! Lots of room and an amazing view from the balcony. There was also a pillow menu(!) which was just a cherry on top.

Highly recommend the platinum. Worth it in my view.

A remarkable hotel, nicely located within a pleasant seaside town, but having the feel of a luxury resort. The interior of the hotel is spectacular with grand, spacious interiors and a nicely designed outdoor space with two large pools surrounded by well maintained, mature plants and trees. The restaurant and snack bars serve a good variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a small gym with a variety of slightly aging machines, and a small spa area where you can get a reasonably priced massage. Rooms are spacious with large beds and a good size balcony. The staff were noticeably friendly and seemed to enjoy and take pride in their work.
