First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Landmar Playa La Arena, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the exterior — it’s got that typical Canarian resort look. But you know what? Sometimes the best places don’t need to show off from the street. This four-star property sits right in Puerto de Santiago, and once you’re inside, you realize the real magic is how they’ve positioned everything to take advantage of those incredible ocean views. The lobby feels fresh and modern without being sterile, which I appreciated after a long travel day.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about Puerto de Santiago — it’s not as touristy as some other spots on Tenerife, which means you get authentic Canarian life mixed with resort comfort. The hotel sits practically on Playa La Arena (that’s the black sand beach, by the way), and I mean practically — you’re talking maybe a two-minute walk. What I loved is that couples seem to really get this location, and honestly, I can see why. There’s something romantic about having that dramatic coastline right there, plus you’re close enough to Los Gigantes cliffs that you can actually walk there if you’re feeling ambitious.

The Room Experience

My room faced the ocean, and I have to say, waking up to those views never got old during my stay. The space itself is clean and well-maintained — nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The balcony is where you’ll spend most of your time anyway, especially in the evenings when the light hits the water just right. Air conditioning works well (important in the Canaries), and the bathroom is modern enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it.

Breakfast and Dining

The breakfast buffet actually surprised me — and I’m usually pretty skeptical about hotel breakfasts. They’ve got everything from full English options to continental spreads, plus they really do accommodate different dietary needs well. I watched them handle vegan and gluten-free requests without any drama, which isn’t always the case at resort hotels. The restaurant has this terrace setup that catches the morning light perfectly, and honestly, starting your day with coffee and those ocean views sets a pretty good tone. There’s also a poolside bar that doesn’t feel like a tourist trap, which is refreshing.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about this place is that it delivers on the basics without trying to be something it’s not. The parking is right there at the hotel (which saves you headaches in this area), the staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, and that location rating of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s earned. You’re close enough to explore the western coast of Tenerife, but far enough from the crowds that you can actually relax. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.2, they’re probably onto something about the romantic potential here. It’s the kind of place where you can have both adventure and downtime without feeling like you’re compromising on either.

  Fantastic, modern, clean. Very big open areas and plenty of light. Wonderful staff in ALL areas of the hotel. Quiet in the night despite being busy during the evening. Great variety in the buffet.

  Friendly staff and exceptional service: thanks to the receptionist Daniel my holiday has started very well since the first step I took into the hotel. Lunch grill restaurant is highly recommended;) and the waiters there take such good care if there guests! The infinity pool for those with platinum stay has a great view. Not just there is a beach close by, but also natural baths right in the ocean (30 min walk). Balconies are huge with a marvelous ocean view. What else would you wish for?!:-) big thanks.

  Beautifully laid out interior and exterior areas of the hotel, that used the landscape and light very well to enhance the whole ambience of the place. The rooms have everything you might need, were spacious, very clean and comfortable, and the mattress on the bed was excellent.
  Great location overlooking the beach, which easy access to all the local amenities- especially the walkway along the coast to Los Gigantes. And bus stops very close to the hotel. Great airport shuttle bus service at an excellent price.

  This is an easy review. This place was perfect! I was looking for an effortless escape with sunshine, and that's exactly what I got from this hotel. All the staff were friendly and attentive, and you could tell they were genuinely happy to be there and wanted to make sure you had a great stay.
  
  There was a gentleman (well dressed staff member, assume a manager) walking around the hotel speaking to guests and he was genuinely interested in how guest's stays were (not in an annoying feedback request way).
  
  The food was amazing and such a huge variety in the buffet. The one night I had a booked dinner at the restaurant, it was delicious and super fast service. Also very kind and attentive staff.
  
  The room was great! Lots of room and an amazing view from the balcony. There was also a pillow menu(!) which was just a cherry on top.
  
  Highly recommend the platinum. Worth it in my view.

  A remarkable hotel, nicely located within a pleasant seaside town, but having the feel of a luxury resort. The interior of the hotel is spectacular with grand, spacious interiors and a nicely designed outdoor space with two large pools surrounded by well maintained, mature plants and trees. The restaurant and snack bars serve a good variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a small gym with a variety of slightly aging machines, and a small spa area where you can get a reasonably priced massage. Rooms are spacious with large beds and a good size balcony. The staff were noticeably friendly and seemed to enjoy and take pride in their work.

  We spent wonderful time in this hotel.We had spacious room with amazing view. Hotel is located in one the most beautiful place in Tenerife,close the Clifs Los Gigantes and Playa La Arena.
  The staff is incredible. They’re working very hard but they are always smiling.We love warm swimimg pools and night’s shows.
