I’ll be honest – I almost drove right past La Punta the first time I visited Alcalá. It’s tucked away on Los Chorrillos street, and you know what? That’s actually one of its best features. While everyone else is fighting for spots at the flashier hotels near the main drag, you’re getting this surprisingly sophisticated 4-star gem that feels like you’ve discovered something the crowds haven’t caught onto yet.

The location is sort of perfect if you actually want to experience this part of Tenerife rather than just Instagram it. You’re still close enough to walk to the good restaurants (there’s this little tapas place about three blocks down that the hotel staff will point you toward if you ask nicely), but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually hear yourself think. The 9.2 rating makes sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but everything they do, they do really well. The rooms have that clean, modern feel without being sterile, and honestly, the beds are better than what you’d expect. I mean, I’ve stayed at supposedly higher-end places where I spent half the night adjusting pillows, but here I actually slept through the night.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach – they’re not hovering or overly formal, but they clearly know their stuff about the area. When I mentioned I was thinking about hiking some of the coastal trails, the front desk guy (I think his name was Carlos?) pulled out this hand-drawn map with little notes about the best viewpoints and where to grab water along the way. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t get from a chain hotel. The whole place has this relaxed confidence to it, like they know they’re good at what they do but don’t need to shout about it. Check-in was smooth, parking was actually available (not always a given in this area), and the common areas have this lived-in elegance that makes you want to linger over coffee in the morning instead of rushing out. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night because leaving feels like more work than just settling in.
