You know what struck me first about La Esterlicia? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street in Los Abrigos where you can actually hear the ocean if you listen for it. I mean, Los Abrigos isn’t exactly on everyone’s radar – it’s this small fishing village about ten minutes from the airport, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. The hotel itself is one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with fancy lobbies or marble everything, but somehow ends up being exactly what you need. The staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a good time, which – let’s be honest – is pretty rare these days.

What really gets me about this place is how it sits right in the heart of what locals actually consider the real Tenerife. Walk five minutes in any direction and you’ll hit the harbor where fishermen are still bringing in their catch at dawn, or you’ll find yourself at one of those tiny tapas bars where the menu is scribbled on a chalkboard and the owner’s grandmother is probably in the kitchen. The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually decent and the AC works (crucial in summer, trust me). Parking can be a bit tricky on Calle la Arena since it’s narrow, but there’s usually space if you’re not arriving during the evening rush when everyone’s coming back from the beach.

I’ve stayed here a few times now, and what keeps bringing me back is that it feels like a base camp rather than a tourist bubble. You’re close enough to the southern beaches that you can hit Playa de Los Abrigos for a morning swim, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore the island without fighting through resort traffic. The breakfast is simple but fresh – local bread, good coffee, and they usually have some kind of Canarian cheese that’s actually worth trying. Honestly, for a three-star place, they punch above their weight in terms of making you feel welcome. The only thing I’d warn you about is that it can get a bit quiet in the evenings – this isn’t party central – but if you’re looking for an authentic slice of Canarian life without the resort markup, La Esterlicia delivers in ways that surprised me.

  Bonjour l'appartement est vraiment super, il correspond tout à fait aux photos. La literie est très confortable, il n'y a vraiment rien à dire!
