You know what struck me first about La Concha? The name itself – it means “the shell” in Spanish, and honestly, that’s exactly what this place feels like. Tucked away on its namesake street in La Laguna’s historic center, it’s this cozy little refuge that sort of wraps around you. I mean, it’s a 3-star hotel, so you’re not getting marble lobbies or anything fancy, but there’s something genuinely charming about the way they’ve kept the Canarian character intact. The building has that typical island architecture – you know, those lovely wooden balconies and stone details that make La Laguna a UNESCO World Heritage site in the first place.

What really gets me is how perfectly positioned this place is for actually experiencing the city rather than just passing through. La Laguna isn’t your typical beach destination (though the coast is maybe fifteen minutes away), and La Concha gets that. You’re literally walking distance from the Cathedral and the old university – I’d wake up and grab coffee at one of those tiny bars on Calle San Agustín, then wander through the colonial streets before most tourists even rolled out of bed. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, too, which sounds basic but honestly isn’t that common anymore. They’ll point you toward the good tapas spots on Calle Herradores instead of the tourist traps, and they genuinely seem to care whether you find that little artisan market that only runs on Saturdays.

The rooms are clean and comfortable – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the beds are decent and the AC works (crucial in summer, trust me). Some rooms face the street, which can get a bit noisy when the university students are out, but that’s just La Laguna being La Laguna. Actually, I kind of loved hearing the city wake up in the morning. Parking can be tricky in the old town, but they work with you on finding spots nearby. What really sealed it for me was the genuine warmth of the place – it’s family-run, and you can tell. The kind of spot where they remember your name after the first night and ask how your day exploring went. For the price point and that 8-rating they’ve earned, La Concha delivers exactly what it promises: an authentic base for discovering one of Tenerife’s most beautiful colonial cities, without any pretense or inflated expectations.

  Location of La Concha is a short walk from colorful market, churches, pedestrian streets, historic district, plazas and museums.
  The proprietor went out of her way to secure reservations at the Leal Theatre for us in advance of our visit.
  The staff moved our laundry into a dry area when it began to rain while we were out.
  
  What could be improved: The 1st step going down the stairs surprised me in the dark. It is angled.

  Nice, easy to get in and the hosts responded quickly. The room was clean, bathroom was nice and there was a cosy terrase outside too.
  
  What could be improved: Be aware that it is 15+ min away, and even if you want to take a buss there is none just outside. We really enjoyed it but if you don't want to walk and want to live right in the middle its not for you.

  The apartment was very nice. Big and clean ensuite bathroom, comfy bed.
  They provide two blankets and an hot hair heater (had temperatures drop a bit in the night)
  It was the room 6. In an inside patio, so it was completely quiet and not noisy during the night.
  Also, there is a big non secured parking just next to the apartments where you can park for free.
  Just 20 min walk from the center, perfect quiet location.
  The kitchen was shared, but it was super clean. Also the fridge is divided per rooms. Nice shared chill area and an amazing lemon tree!!!
  Free coffee in capsules and free drinking water!

  Love the emplacement, the common kitchen which was full equipped with water fountain included ! The common room was very nice and comfortable 👌🏻. The room was great with nice shower and a very cool light with fan included
  
  What could be improved: The room was a bit small but comfortable! A dish towel would have been greatly appreciated, as well as some equipments such as bowls or oven dishes 🙂

• Comfortable accommodation in La LAGUNA – Monika from Bulgaria – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

  The place is wonderful and corresponds to the description and photos. The location is good if you have a car and there is free street parking. The common space is very pleasant, the kitchen well equipped. There is a coffee machine and many types of coffee capsules, which is a great convenience in the morning. There is also a mineral water dispenser. A bottle of champagne and sweets were waiting for us in each room. Very nice welcome from the host. We had an excellent stay.
  
  What could be improved: The double bedroom has a shared pillow, which for us was quite uncomfortable, as well as the shared sheet.
