You know what struck me first about La Casita del Sur? It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Calle San Andrés where you can actually hear the ocean from your room – not just during the day, but at night when everything else settles down. Abades isn’t one of those tourist traps you see plastered all over Instagram, which honestly makes it better. The hotel sits maybe a ten-minute walk from the black sand beach, and I mean the real deal – that volcanic sand that gets everywhere but somehow you don’t mind because it’s so different from what you’re used to.

The place has this relaxed Canarian vibe that feels genuine rather than put-on for tourists. The staff actually remembers your name after day one (I stayed for five nights), and they’ll tell you which local spots serve the best papas arrugadas instead of just handing you a generic tourist map. The rooms are solid – nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable and the balconies face either the village or catch glimpses of the coast depending on which side you’re on. I had room 23 which gave me this partial ocean view between the buildings, perfect for morning coffee. The bathroom’s got one of those rainfall showers that actually has decent pressure, which you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in smaller hotels.

What really won me over was the breakfast terrace – they serve it until 10:30, thank goodness, because vacation mornings shouldn’t start at 7 AM. The local cheese and that incredibly sweet Canarian tomato they put out daily? Amazing. Plus the woman who runs breakfast (I think her name was Carmen) makes this café cortado that’s better than what I had in Santa Cruz. The hotel’s got parking too, which matters because street parking in Abades can be tricky, especially during summer weekends when the locals come down for beach days. Check-in was smooth around 3 PM, though I called ahead since I was coming from the airport and wasn’t sure about timing. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re looking for an authentic Tenerife experience without the cruise ship crowds you get in Los Cristianos or Playa de las Américas.

  Nos encantó pasar unos días en esta casita! La casa está recién reformada, y todo está en muy buen estado. No hemos echado en falta nada. Además cuenta con todo lo necesario para utilizar la cocina al completo.
  No hemos pasado calor en ningún momento, puedes crear corriente de aire natural abriendo las ventanas y además cuenta con ventiladores. Además en el pueblo siempre hay brisa.
  Ha sido un acierto elegir este alojamiento. También en todo momento nos han resuelto cualquier consulta el equipo que la gestiona, muy agradables.
  Es una opción recomendable a todo el que quiera vivir en un entorno tranquilo y respetando siempre a los vecinos del pueblo que viven ahí.

  What could be improved: Alles perfekt! Hinweis falls viele Stromverbraucher gleichzeitig laufen fällt die Sicherung. Am besten nacheinander benutzen!

  Zona muy tranquila y buena ubicación para moverte tanto por el norte como el sur. Una casita muy acogedora, tiene una pequeña playa muy cerca llamada los abriguitos.
  El personal muy atento y responden muy rápido.
  
  What could be improved: No hay lavavajillas, el colchon de la cama de matrimonio esta hundido y dormir en ese lado no era cómodo.
  No disponen de nevera portatil ni sombrilla y la echamos en falta con dos peques para pasar dia de playa. Todo lo demas genial.
