You know, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to House in Anaga on Calle la Cruz – I mean, it’s basically a residential street in tiny Almáciga, and honestly, if you blink while driving through this village, you’ll miss it entirely. But that’s actually what makes this place so unexpectedly charming. The house sits right in the heart of the Anaga Rural Park, which most tourists completely skip because they’re too busy hitting up the southern beaches. Their loss, really.

What strikes you immediately is how quiet it gets here once the sun goes down – like, properly quiet in a way that city people forget exists. The house itself has that lived-in feel that a lot of rural accommodations try to fake but can’t quite pull off. You can tell someone actually put thought into the details rather than just ordering everything from a hotel supply catalog. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and honestly, after spending days hiking the ancient laurel forests (which are literally on your doorstep), you don’t need fancy amenities – you need a good shower and a real bed, both of which this place delivers on.

Here’s the thing about staying in Almáciga that guidebooks don’t really capture: you’re positioned perfectly to explore the wildest part of Tenerife without the crowds that swarm places like Teide or Los Gigantes. The coastal path to Punta del Hidalgo is maybe a 20-minute walk, and there’s this little black sand beach that hardly anyone knows about. Plus, if you’re into the whole farm-to-table thing, there’s a tiny restaurant in the village – I won’t spoil it by naming it, but ask the owners and they’ll point you in the right direction. The drive up here from Santa Cruz takes about 45 minutes on winding mountain roads, so yeah, you definitely want to rent a car. Parking isn’t an issue since you’re basically in the middle of nowhere, but those switchbacks can be intense if you’re not used to mountain driving. The place gets booked solid during Easter week when Spanish families come up from the south, but most other times you’ll have the trails pretty much to yourself. It’s not luxury – it’s better than that, it’s authentic.

  The location in Almaciga is great, this place has beautiful views from the magnificent rooftop terrace. We stayed with a young baby which is perfect with the extra room. There is a small bar 50m from the apartment that serves food and drinks all day, and a small shop beneath the apartment that has bread, fruit, veggies and basic supplies.
  
  What could be improved: The place feels a bit 'cheap' the plastic chairs are uncomfortable and so are the thin cushions on the deck chairs. The kitchen doesn't have warm water which is annoying when doing the dishes. I feel like the place is a bit pricy for what you get.

  The views, close to small supermarket, welcome basket, nice terrace.
  
  What could be improved: We were lucky that the weather was great. We could chill outside on the private terrace because there is not really a nice place to relax inside the apartment. Everything is quite old and the shower is very very small. It’s just okay for one night… but then it is very over priced.. communication with the host was good.

  Piękne, przytulnie urządzone mieszkanie, że wspaniałym tarasem z widokiem na ocean, w otoczeniu gór.
  Mieszkanie zawiera wszystkie niezbędne udogodnienia, w tym także sprzęty dedykowane małym dzieciom (łóżeczko, krzesełko do karmienia).
  Gospodarze przemili i bardzo pomocni.

  la ubicación es perfecta. Al lado hay una tienda que viene súper bien. La playa está cerquísima. La casa es súper amplia y tiene todo lo necesario para una estancia perfecta
