You know what caught me off guard about RF Astoria? The moment I walked into the lobby, there was this immediate sense of calm – and I mean, you’re literally on Enrique Talg street, which isn’t exactly the quietest corner of Puerto de la Cruz. But somehow they’ve managed to create this adult-only bubble that feels completely separate from the usual tourist chaos outside.

The location is honestly pretty perfect if you know the area. You’re about a five-minute walk from the black sand beaches at Playa Jardín (those volcanic beaches that look incredible in photos but are surprisingly comfortable once you get used to them), and maybe ten minutes from the old town center where all the good tapas spots are. What I really appreciated was being close enough to walk to everything but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with the late-night bar crowds. The hotel sits in this sort of residential pocket – you’ll see actual locals going about their day, which always makes a place feel more authentic to me.

The adults-only thing really works here, and I say that as someone who’s usually skeptical of hotels that market themselves that way. It’s not stuffy or pretentious – more like they’ve just curated this relaxed vibe where everyone’s on the same page about wanting to unwind. The pool area actually stays pretty peaceful even during busy times, and the staff seem to have this knack for keeping things low-key without being hands-off. I spent a good chunk of one afternoon just reading by the pool, and honestly, it felt like being at a friend’s place rather than a hotel. The building itself has that classic Canarian architecture – you know, the white walls and wooden balconies – but it’s been updated thoughtfully. My room had this great little balcony where I could see glimpses of the ocean between the buildings, and the whole setup felt fresh without trying too hard to be modern.

Here’s the thing about Puerto de la Cruz – it’s got this perfect balance of being touristy enough to have good infrastructure but still feeling like a real place where people actually live. RF Astoria captures that same energy. The breakfast spread was solid (local cheese, fresh fruit, proper coffee), the Wi-Fi worked everywhere I needed it to, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. Is it the fanciest place you’ll ever stay? Probably not. But there’s something to be said for a hotel that knows exactly what it is and does it well. If you’re looking for a base to explore Tenerife’s north coast without the resort crowds, this place gets it right.

  Wonderful stay. Great location. Perfectly clean and comfortable apartment. Everything you need for a break in Puerto de la Cruz. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely stay again.

  Very nice staff, thanks to the kind man at the reception. Made us feel truly welcomed. I actually liked the parking, even though it’s underground I was very happy to have it, since I’v been in more sketchyer undergrounds and there is limited parking on the street. Rooms are very clean and very spacious with nice equipment to have dinner at the room. We were very happy about the location, staff, parking, cleannesses and overall- very good value for money! Thank you.

  Excellent property in an perfect location. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The staff were always very polite and helpful. Although it is in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz, my wife and I found no real noise problems.
  We have stayed in a number of properties in the centre before and, for the rating and price, we would rate this the best.
  It has a relaxed, calm atmosphere which made our stay the best possible.
  We have already booked again.
