It’s actually tucked away on this little street – Doctor Cobiella Zaera – that most tourists completely miss, which honestly works in your favor. I mean, you’re still right in Puerto de la Cruz, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main drag where everyone’s dragging their suitcases over cobblestones at midnight.

The thing about this place is it gets the balance right between feeling like a proper hotel and not being so stuffy you can’t relax. The lobby has this sort of understated elegance – marble floors that actually stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, and the staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing (I watched them handle a tour group mixup with zero drama, which… trust me, that’s not always the case around here). The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but the air conditioning works like a dream and the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up plotting revenge against your mattress. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing – Puerto de la Cruz can get lively, especially during festival season, but you’ll actually get some sleep here.

Here’s the real advantage though: the location puts you within walking distance of both the old town charm and the black sand beaches, but you’re positioned where locals actually live and work. There’s this little café about two blocks down where the coffee costs half what you’d pay near the harbor, and you can grab fresh pastries that haven’t been sitting under heat lamps for tourists. The hotel’s proximity to the botanical gardens is clutch too – you can walk there in the morning before it gets crowded and hot. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area (welcome to the Canary Islands), but the hotel staff knows the tricks for finding spots, and honestly, you won’t need your car much once you’re settled in. The whole vibe here is more… authentic, I guess? Like you’re staying somewhere that happens to be in a beautiful place rather than staying at a resort that’s trying really hard to convince you the place is beautiful. The 8.6 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling.

  Breakfast was plentiful with plenty of variety. The hotel is high above the town, but is walkable in about 15 minutes downhill. Room was very comfortable. I wanted to stay there for 2 extra days but they were fully booked, so had to move to another hotel.
