Tucked away on Doctor Ingram street (which honestly, most tourists never even notice), you’re actually in this perfect sweet spot where you can walk to the main action but escape the cruise ship crowds when they descend on the waterfront. The building itself has that classic Canarian vibe without trying too hard – white walls, wooden balconies, and yeah, it shows its age a bit but in a charming way, not a “when was this place last renovated” way.

What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to know Puerto de la Cruz, not just the hotel. The guy at reception – I think his name was Miguel – didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. He marked up the back streets where locals grab their morning coffee and warned me about the weekend crowds at Playa Jardín (seriously, avoid Saturday afternoons unless you love human sardine situations). The rooms are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy marble when you’re dealing with post-beach sandy feet. Some rooms face the street and you’ll hear a bit of traffic in the morning, but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you up at night.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the location puts you about a ten-minute walk from the old town plaza, but you’re also close enough to hear the ocean if you pay attention. You can actually walk down to the black sand beaches without needing a taxi or dealing with the chaos around the bigger hotels near the botanical gardens. The check-in was smooth (they had my room ready even though I arrived early), and there’s this tiny courtyard area where you can sit with a drink without feeling like you’re in a hotel lobby. It’s not luxury by any means – this is solid 3-star territory – but sometimes you want a place that feels more like staying in a local neighborhood than a tourist bubble. Plus, parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the port, which if you’re renting a car to explore the island, you’ll definitely appreciate. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but it delivers exactly what you’d hope for without any unpleasant surprises.

  Great central location in a quiet part of town, big bright airy foyer, plesant helpful staff, big room comfy bed Netflix on tv good bathroom with plenty of hot water good selection of foods for the breakfast more than enough choice for everyone. And nice to be able to store bags for an hour or two. Just a few hundred meters from the bus station and the centre of the town.
