Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Don Manolito on Doctor Madan street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. This little gem sits right in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, and I mean literally in the thick of things – you’re maybe a two-minute walk from the main plaza and all those winding cobblestone streets that make this town actually feel like the Canary Islands instead of just another beach resort.
The thing about Doctor Madan street is that it’s one of those local arteries that tourists usually miss, but it puts you within stumbling distance of everything that matters. I could smell the coffee from Café Central drifting up in the mornings, and honestly, that became my daily ritual – grab a cortado and wander back to plan the day. The hotel itself has that lived-in feel that some people might call dated, but I found it refreshingly authentic. The lobby’s got these old tile floors that actually stay cool even when it’s blazing outside, and the staff – well, they’re not putting on some polished hotel performance, they’re just genuinely helpful people who know their neighborhood. When I asked about avoiding the tour bus crowds at the botanical gardens, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a brochure, he drew me a little map showing the back entrance and told me to go around 4 PM when the light’s perfect anyway.
What really sold me on this place was the practical stuff that travel websites never tell you about. The rooms are clean and comfortable – not Instagram-worthy, but honestly, who cares when you’re spending your days exploring? The shower pressure is actually decent (minor miracle in older Spanish hotels), and the beds are firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a marshmallow all night. Plus, and this is key if you’re sensitive to noise, the windows are thick enough that you can’t hear every conversation from the street below. I mean, you’ll still get some ambient Puerto de la Cruz sounds – the occasional late-night reveler or early morning delivery truck – but it’s not like trying to sleep above a nightclub. The whole experience just feels… reasonable? Like, you’re getting solid value without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you want to spend your money on experiences rather than thread counts.

Reviews
Clean and comfortable stay – Emma from United Kingdom – 7 April 2025 (8/10)
Great location between the beach and town, loads of options for lunch and dinner within a 10-15 minute walk. The breakfast buffet is good, although the coffee is not good (from a machine) and no decaf coffee option. The room was clean and comfortable although a little on the basic side; no kettle or bin in the room, the hairdryer is the kind you need to keep your finger on the button, the mirror and toilet seat have seen better days. A slight frustration is a few extra charges and deposits for things like using the room safe, towels for the pool. There is no aircon in the room.
Great stay, friendly staff – Bastiaan from Spain – 13 December 2024 (9/10)
Very friendly staff, it is what we liked the most of this hotel.
Recommended for a pleasant holiday in Tenerife. – Jason from Serbia – 27 April 2024 (9/10)
The pool is very nice, rooms are spacious and clean, perfect location, close to the center but quiet, very helpful staff.
What could be improved: No mini fridge in the room, breakfast could have been better, a few more options and variations day to day would have been nice.Very good – David from United Kingdom – 21 April 2024 (8/10)
Gym was excellent and whole place very clean.
Ok for one night – La from Spain – 20 April 2024 (7/10)
Location, staff, balcony
What could be improved: Hotel needs to be refurbished
Welcome products in bathroom
Breakfast to be much improvedA good place to stay when visiting Puerto de la Cruz – Yulia from United Kingdom – 17 January 2024 (9/10)
The location is very good, close to the centre of the town. There are lots of very good restaurants within a short walk. The walk to the Loro park takes 20 min, can go back by their free train. Short walk to the bus station to go to Jardin Botanico or Orotava.
We had a room with the ocean view, which was a bonus. The area aroung swimming pool is very green, pretty gardens and birds are singing.
What could be improved: The breakfast time 7.30 till 9.30 is not comfortable for a holiday hotel. Altough the staff is doing their best to clear the tables, majority of customers arrive after 9.00, therefore there is shortage of table. I would appreciate a longer time for breakfast.
The breakfast was quite monotonous, same dishes every day.We enjoyed our stay! The hotel fell cosy and welcoming! – Marilyn from Sweden – 7 January 2024 (8/10)
Lots of choice!
What could be improved: –A good value for money base – Chris from Spain – 20 December 2023 (8/10)
Loved the location and the clean rooms.
The staff were very good too
What could be improved: Food was above average but breakfast had limited choiceShort break away – Michael from United Kingdom – 15 August 2023 (9/10)
Ideal location for the town area very flat so suitable for us oldies staff very friendly helpful
What could be improved: NothingVery good – Dimitar from Germany – 13 April 2023 (8/10)
Each room has a balcony with a view to the ocean or to the mountain.
What could be improved: The dinner was could be more diverse. There was alway some kind of pasta and souce for it plus meat/ fish and vegitables. The variaty was not so big, but it was nevertheless delicious.
