Hotel Atlantic El Tope Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Atlantic El Tope on Calzada Martiánez, you immediately get that feeling this place knows what it’s doing. The building has this solid, established presence — not flashy, but definitely confident. I mean, when you’re in what locals consider the absolute best part of Puerto de la Cruz, you don’t need to shout about it. The entrance feels welcoming without being overly formal, which honestly sets the tone for the whole experience.

Prime Location Perks

Here’s the thing about this spot — couples absolutely love it here, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why they rate it so highly. You’re positioned perfectly to explore the old town’s winding streets, but you’re also close enough to the coastal promenade that evening walks become second nature. The Martiánez area has this authentic Canarian vibe that tourist-heavy zones sometimes lack. You know what I really appreciated? Being able to walk to local tapas bars that actually serve locals, not just visitors with guidebooks.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had that comfortable, lived-in quality that four-star hotels do well — everything works perfectly, but it doesn’t feel sterile. The balcony views vary depending on which side you’re on, but honestly, even the less spectacular ones give you glimpses of daily Puerto de la Cruz life, which I found charming. The beds are properly comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and the bathroom setup is practical without any unnecessary frills.

Breakfast and Practical Matters

The buffet breakfast actually surprised me — it’s not just the usual continental spread. They include local specialties alongside the standard offerings, which gives you a proper taste of Canarian flavors without having to venture out first thing. What really sold me on this place, though, was the free parking. If you’ve ever tried finding a parking spot in Puerto de la Cruz during peak season, you’ll understand why this is genuinely valuable. It’s one of those details that seems small until you need it, then it becomes everything.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Atlantic El Tope isn’t trying to be the most Instagram-worthy place on the island — it’s focused on being genuinely useful for travelers who want to experience Puerto de la Cruz properly. The staff seems to understand that people come here to explore, not just lounge around the hotel, so they’re helpful with local recommendations without being pushy. The location score speaks for itself, but what that number doesn’t tell you is how easy it makes everything else. Whether you’re heading to the botanical gardens, exploring the volcanic pools, or just wandering through the historic center, you’re starting from the right spot. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve made a smart choice rather than just an expensive one.

Tenerife hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in this subtropical paradise, known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, world-class beaches, and legendary coastal resorts.

Reviews of Hotel Atlantic El Tope

  • Tymoteusz from Poland (9/10)

The hotels location is perfect. It is near a small mall with a supermarket, a strategic bus stop, some public beaches, lots of car rentals and a beautiful botanical garden. The room was very clean and comfortable. It had enough space, the balcony was enormous (corner room). The hotel provides even sunbathing chairs. The view was amazing. The food was delicious. During our stay the hotel organized a New Year Dinner which was pretty amazing.

Excellent location and surprisingly quiet at night time. The bedding is good quality and the bed was very comfortable. The room is a great size, bathroom and shower are immaculate and a great balcony overlooking the pool and Mount Teide. The room was cleaned every day by very pleasant staff. The rooftop bar and jacuzzi area is fabulous and the views are stunning

  • Bastien from Switzerland (8/10)

Nice location, good size room, good breakfast, nice rooftop bar, nice balconies. Ok gym.

  • Alexander from Norway (8/10)

Great location and a swimming pool with direct sunshine from 09:30 to 17:30 in December/January, something which is hard to find in Puerto de la Cruz. Lots of space around the pool, as the guests tend to be older Northern Europeans. Great choice if you prefer to stay by the pool all day long.

  • Ann from Ireland (9/10)

The hotel is modern and in a good location, near public transport, beaches, shops, restaurants and a small shopping centre. It has a nice pool area, bar, restaurant and roof top bar worth checking out. Housekeeping cleaned room every day. Much of the area is on high ground as is the hotel. Across the road from the hotel there are 140 steps which take you to the beach, restaurants etc. This may pose a challenge for those less mobile, but taxies are always an option and are not expensive.
The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable. The dining room is large where a lot of seating is always available. There was an excellent variety of food available for breakfast and dinner, a buffet style service. The catering manager and staff are efficient and professional.
The staff were excellent and did endeavour to facilitate us in every was possible. We found Javier in reception had a good standard of English and was most helpful when we arrived and had to organise a taxi at short notice when the bus to the airport failed to arrive.

  • Peter from United Kingdom (7/10)

We did not want the sea view here we much prefer Teide and the barranca so because we have stayed many times before they very kindly upgraded us and paid 3 euros per night for the safe.
The food was not as good as our stay in March but better than most, they are just having major renovations on the side where there used to be unused tennis courts and in the basement which was never used to its full potential, because of the high winds on one day caused a lot of dust which managed to penetrate the rooms because of the way the patio doors are designed we felt extremely concerned for the extra work this must have caused their super cleaners who keep the place spotless
El Tope is situated on a hill but has beautiful views but not the best place if you don’t like walking or have problems with your leg joints fortunately at our ages we are still very happy and able to enjoy the several walks down town and over to La Paz so an ideal position for us.
