Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Tenerife, but Hortensia Suites honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away on Calle Amalia Alayon – you know, that quieter street that runs parallel to the main tourist drag in Los Cristianos. First thing you notice is how the building actually fits into the neighborhood instead of looking like some massive resort complex. The apartments here feel more like… well, like someone’s nice holiday home that they’re letting you borrow for a week.

The location is what really sold me, though. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Playa de Los Cristianos, but here’s the thing – you don’t get all that beachfront chaos and noise. I mean, during the day you can hear some activity from the promenade, but at night it’s surprisingly peaceful. The apartment I stayed in had this little balcony where I’d have my coffee in the morning, and honestly, watching the locals head to work while the tourists were still sleeping was kind of perfect. There’s a Mercadona just around the corner (absolute lifesaver for groceries), and if you walk five minutes toward the harbor, you hit all those seafood places that locals actually eat at – not just the touristy spots right on the beach.

What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area. When I asked about getting to Teide National Park, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a brochure – he told me which bus to take, where to get off, and mentioned this little café in Vilaflor that’s worth the stop. The apartments themselves are spacious enough that you don’t feel cramped (I’ve been in some “suites” in the Canaries that were basically hotel rooms with a kitchenette shoved in the corner), and the kitchen actually has everything you need to cook properly. The air conditioning works well too, which you’ll definitely need if you’re there in summer – though the cross-breeze from the balcony doors helps a lot. Only minor thing is the WiFi can be a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but honestly, that’s pretty much everywhere in Los Cristianos. The pool area is nice without being pretentious, and there’s usually space to actually sit by it, unlike some places where you have to get up at dawn to claim a chair. If you’re the type who likes being close to everything but still wants to feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just another cookie-cutter hotel, this place gets it right.

  Great location a short walk from the beach and the main front. The apartment itself is lovely and the host provided an nice welcome pack which included things like dishwasher/ washing machine tablets (hate buying big boxed of these things and only using 3-4). Beach towels provided too which would have been a great space saver in the cases. Not sure if it was made clear but we didn't know they were there. Aircon in every bedroom and the three bedrooms meant our daughters could have their own room which was a bonus. Highly recommended.

  Perfect location, spacious, comfortable and quiet. Simple self-check-in with convenient lock box so no need to carry keys. Well equipped kitchen. We also appreciated the welcome gift of wine and snacks.
