So I ended up at Home2Book Sea Side El Medano last spring, and honestly? It’s one of those places that grows on you. First impression was pretty standard – clean three-star setup, nothing fancy, but you know what really got me? The staff actually seemed to give a damn. Check-in was smooth, and the guy at reception knew exactly which restaurants were worth walking to for dinner (spoiler: skip the touristy spots near the beach entrance and head toward the residential streets).

The location is where this place really shines, though I mean, El Médano itself is kind of having a moment right now. You’re literally a five-minute walk from that gorgeous stretch of beach where all the windsurfers hang out – and trust me, watching those guys navigate the wind patterns while you’re having your morning coffee is better entertainment than most hotels offer. The rooms are solid, nothing Instagram-worthy but everything works. Air conditioning actually cools the place down (not always a given in Spain), and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with a hammock all night. I stayed on the second floor facing inland, which was quieter – the sea-facing rooms can get a bit loud with the wind, especially during those afternoon gusts that make El Médano famous among the kite-surfing crowd.

What I really appreciated was the little stuff nobody tells you about. There’s decent parking (huge win if you’re exploring Tenerife by car), the WiFi actually works in the rooms, and they’ve got this tiny kitchen setup that’s perfect for storing those amazing tomatoes from the Saturday market. The 7.5 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow you away, but it won’t disappoint either. You’re basically paying for a solid base camp in one of Tenerife’s most authentic beach towns, without the resort nonsense or the crowds you’ll find in Los Cristianos. Plus, if you’re into that whole volcanic landscape thing, you can literally see Montaña Roja from some of the upper floors – that reddish volcanic cone that looks like Mars decided to visit the Canary Islands. The only real downside? It can get pretty windy (well, duh, it’s El Médano), so pack layers even in summer. But honestly, that constant breeze is what keeps this place from feeling oppressively hot, even in August.

  What could be improved: we sent a message informing the clerk our check out time. we were asked 3 times by different people what time we were going to leave even after we sent the message. one lady understood we were leaving too late (she obviously did not read our message correctly) when in fact we were checking out 11 hours before the supposed check out time.

  Sehr schöne und super gelegene Wohnung, mit allem was man braucht. In wenigen Minuten zu Fuß in der Stadt oder am Wasser. Würde immer wieder gerne dahin zurück.

  Die Lage der Unterkunft ist sehr gut. Man hat es nicht weit zum Strand und es gibt viele Einkaufsmöglichkeiten direkt in der Nähe. Zum Marktplatz, Restaurants und Bistros ist es ebenfalls nicht weit.

  Nos encantó nuestra estancia. La ubicación es ideal: desde la terraza se respira una tranquilidad absoluta, pero con fácil acceso a tiendas, restaurantes y rutas. Es un alojamiento acogedor, bien equipado, con detalles útiles como café, artículos de aseo y recomendaciones locales y perfecto tanto para descansar como para explorar la zona. Buena relación calidad-precio y atención rápida por parte del anfitrión. Sin duda, un lugar al que nos gustaría volver.
