Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Home Bassou, I was expecting another generic three-star spot in Santa Cruz. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Calle Doctor Allart, which is this quiet residential street that most tourists never discover (and honestly, that’s part of its charm). You’re far enough from the cruise ship crowds that dump into the city center, but close enough that you can walk to Plaza de España in about ten minutes if you don’t mind a little uphill stretch.
The thing that strikes you immediately is how the place feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a hotel. The owners – and I mean this in the most genuine way – actually seem to care about what they’re doing here. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no corporate nonsense, just real people who know their neighborhood and aren’t shy about sharing recommendations. They pointed me toward this little tapas place around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise, and honestly, it ended up being one of the best meals I had in Tenerife. The rooms themselves are clean and thoughtfully put together – nothing fancy, but you know what? Sometimes you just want a comfortable bed, decent WiFi, and a shower with proper water pressure. Home Bassou delivers on all counts, plus they’ve got these little touches like actually good coffee in the lobby and windows that open (you’d be surprised how many hotels have forgotten about fresh air).
What really sold me on this place was the morning routine. Santa Cruz wakes up early, and from Home Bassou you can hear the city coming alive – not in an annoying way, but in that authentic way where you feel connected to the place you’re visiting. The nearby streets fill up with locals heading to work, the small cafés start brewing their first rounds, and you get this sense that you’re experiencing the real Tenerife, not some sanitized tourist version. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town – it’s all street parking and locals know the good spots – but the staff helped me figure out the system. I mean, it’s not perfect, but it’s manageable, and honestly, you’ll probably want to explore on foot anyway. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you stay here; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. If you’re looking for a pool and room service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to stay somewhere that feels authentic, where the staff knows your name by day two, and where you’re genuinely in the heart of a Spanish city rather than tourist-land, Home Bassou gets it right.

This apartment was so central and situated in a well maintained block just round the corner from the main area. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had absolutely everything we needed. Prior to arrival, the owners made contact to give us all the information we needed to access the apartment. If I needed anything, I could WhatsApp the owner and she answered almost immediately. She was so friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to stay at this apartment again. It was perfect.

Eccellent apartment, very well maintained and arranged. Perfect location right in the city center, close to everything. Very good host, provided all the important infos ahead of time especially were to park if you are traveling by car: bring in the city center is not easy to orientate and understand where u can park close to the property, but thanks to the info provided we managed to find a spot very close to the apartment.

I made reservation and was accommodated in less than half an hour. Keys were in the box so you don't have to wait for anyone.
Apparment was clean and full equipped – dishes, coffee machine with coffee included and as nice bonus sweet pan. Then another useful things like bottle of water, shampoo, hair conditioner, body lotion… everything what we needed.
