Hotel Description

I’ve walked past HG Tenerife Sur on Avenida Amsterdam dozens of times, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just feels right from the moment you see it. The building itself isn’t trying too hard to impress – it’s got that clean, modern look that works well in Los Cristianos without being flashy about it. What really caught my attention though was how the staff actually seemed to enjoy their jobs, which you don’t always see at three-star places.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know the area. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Los Cristianos beach, but more importantly, you’re close enough to the port that you can easily catch those ferries to La Gomera if you’re feeling adventurous. The thing is, Avenida Amsterdam runs parallel to the main tourist strip, so you get easy access to everything without being right in the middle of the chaos – I mean, the bars can get pretty loud until 2 AM during peak season, but you won’t hear much of that from here. There’s actually a really good local bakery just around the corner that most tourists miss, and the Mercadona supermarket is close enough that you can grab supplies without needing a car.

What surprised me most was how well they’ve maintained the place. The pool area gets great morning sun (perfect if you’re an early riser like me), and the rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star, but with little touches that show someone cares. The air conditioning actually works properly – you’d be amazed how often that’s not the case in Tenerife – and the Wi-Fi reaches the pool area, which is clutch if you need to stay connected. The breakfast isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s fresh and there’s enough variety to keep you happy for a week-long stay. I will say the elevators can be a bit slow during check-in rush, but that’s pretty much my only real complaint. The 8.5 rating makes total sense when you consider the price point – you’re getting reliable comfort in a spot that puts you right where you want to be in Los Cristianos, without paying resort prices for amenities you probably won’t use anyway.

  My stay was fantastic. I have previously stayed with this hotel 3 times, each time great but this stay was even better. I had decided to upgrade my room a month before the holiday, and the upgrade exceeded my expectations. I love the apartments I have previously stayed in. They were perfect for a couple, clean, and the staff were always excellent. My stay this time was just such a treat, as I got the top floor apartment for me and my partner. The view was exceptional, the handwritten welcome card was a really sweet touch. As always the staff always asked if I was happy and needed anything when I passed reception. It was greatly apricated and I will 100% be returning!
  Some other perks on the hotel, it's a great location, super clean, the pool is well kept and there is always someone on watch which I like, overall one of my favorite places to stay in Los Cristiano 🙂

  Overall facilities were excellent, staff lovely and very helpful.

  I loved the room, the view the welcome bottle of wine and little note. Went above and beyond I loved this hotel would most certainly stay again.
  
  What could be improved: The gym facilities was very poor not enough equipment or weights. That is the only thing that let this hotel down everting else was brilliant.

  Ideal location, not burdened by hills. Supermarkets and accessible public transport nearby. Really nice rooms, well spaced out. Lovely welcoming gift
  
  What could be improved: As mentioned by others, the rush for loungers in the morning (8:30ish & 11:00) is kind of hilarious. Lots of people get them & don’t use them for hours – probably should have a better system in place for that

  Rooms were cleaned every day and given fresh towels which was really nice. Shop downstairs was great with fresh bread being baked each morning. Staff were really nice and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Beds were not comfy, sofa bed wasn’t a proper pull out sofa bed & was abit old fashioned.
  Sun loungers by the pool are gone within 5 minutes of being out in the morning.

  Very friendly staff and excellent location. Rooms were clean and spacious.
  
  What could be improved: We felt the appartment we were staying in wasn’t overly suitable for our toddler the balcony had quite a large gap between the railings and she could have easily wiggled through so we had to keep the balcony locked at all times also we had a modern bathroom but the shower was very slippy with no bath mat our toddler took a fall and banged her head if there had been a bath it would have been a better option for us. I would definitely stay again but just be a bit more specific in what we need facilities wise. Also it was difficult to get a sun lounger
