You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Haciendas del Valle – Las Kentias on that narrow stretch of Camino Viejo El Boquerón. I mean, the address sounds pretty remote, and honestly, it is. Valle de Guerra isn’t exactly on the main tourist trail, which – spoiler alert – turns out to be exactly why this place works so well. The building itself has this authentic Canarian hacienda vibe that doesn’t feel forced or touristy, probably because it actually sits in what feels like proper countryside. You’ll hear roosters in the morning (seriously), and the silence at night is the kind that makes city people slightly uncomfortable for about ten minutes before they realize how amazing it is.

What really got me was how the staff actually knows the area – not just the Wikipedia version, but the real deal. They’ll tell you which trails up toward the mountains are worth your time, and more importantly, which ones aren’t. The woman at reception (I think her name was Carmen?) steered me away from the “scenic route” I’d mapped out and pointed me toward this incredible viewpoint that maybe three tourists a year stumble across. The rooms themselves are spacious in that old-world way – thick walls, proper shutters, and thank god, excellent beds. I’m picky about mattresses, and theirs actually let me sleep past 6 AM, which is saying something. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and here’s a small thing that matters: the water pressure is fantastic, even on the second floor.

Location-wise, you’re about a 15-minute drive from the coast if you need your beach fix, but honestly, the peace up here is addictive. There’s something about being nestled in the valley with the Anaga mountains looming around you that makes you want to slow down. The breakfast spread is proper Spanish – none of that international buffet nonsense – with local cheeses and the kind of tomatoes that remind you what tomatoes are supposed to taste like. Fair warning though: if you’re the type who needs to be in the thick of nightlife, this isn’t your spot. Valle de Guerra rolls up the sidewalks early, and the nearest proper restaurant scene is a bit of a drive. But that’s sort of the point, isn’t it? Sometimes you need a place that forces you to actually relax, where the biggest decision is whether to read by the pool or take that hike you’ve been putting off. The 9.8 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, just really, really good at being a peaceful escape with genuine character.

  Beautiful apartment warm and inviting, nicely laid out set amongst lovely gardens with views of the hills and very peaceful

  The house and the garden around are BEAUTIFUL. Living there is just like living in a fairytale! The kitchen is well equipped to have wonderful dinners at the villa for a company, and there is also a barbecue available. The owners are super hospitable and greeted us with a plenty of welcome treats. The small details in the colonial style interior are truly mesmerizing.
  
  What could be improved: I don’t even want to list any cons, because what you get there compensate all the minor shortcomings in full. You just need to go and try it yourself while on Tenerife! My sincere recommendation.

  We had a wonderful stay in Las Kentias. It's a very calm and relaxing place with a beautiful garden and mountain views. Our apartment was spacieous, beautifully designed and well equipped. Also the Jaccuzi is just perfect. The location is great: Santa Cruz and La Laguna are only 20 minutes away and you can reah almost all places on the island within one hour.

  Wonderful and very spacieous apartment surrounded by green and blooming nature, with birdsong morning and evening;
  There is a lot of outside space for kids to run about.
  The kitchen is extremelly well equiped and the landlady prepares some food for the first day breakfast, she is very nice and always accesible through phone contact, she met us personally on the first day. Rooms are very spacieous and comfortable. Specific is the acces to bedrooms from the outside porch in the big apartment but it makes no real bother since every bedrom has its own bathroom within.
  Can get a bit chilly on cloudy, windy days but there are electric heaters to warm up the place and as soon as sun comes it gets warm.
  Jakuzzi under open skies, surrounded by trees, birds and with a view across the valley and plantage makes a beautiful experience at the end of the day.
  House is in proximity to main roads so access to islands spots is good.
  We really had wonderful time here.

  Beautiful, quiet location. The apartment was sufficiently equipped with modern appliances. Clean and cozy. Perfect spot for trips around the island.
  
  What could be improved: Missed a microwave in the kitchen. Rooster kept making loud noises during the night and very early morning but that's something that you should probably expect from an accommodation in the countryside.

  The place is an amazing oasis of green and tranquillity, close to big cities as La Laguna or Santa Cruz, but also near nature or actually in it. The hosts are great, the place is great, nothing to complain. We definitely will come back.
