You know what struck me first about Habitaciones IFAE? It’s tucked right on Avenida los Pescadores – and yes, that literally means “Fishermen’s Avenue” – which tells you everything about this corner of Alcalá. I mean, you’re staying in what feels like a proper Canarian neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. The building itself is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but honestly that’s part of its charm. It’s got that lived-in feel that makes you think actual locals might live upstairs.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place, though I’d say they punch slightly above their weight. Clean, functional, with those tiled floors that stay cool even when it’s blazing outside – which, let’s be real, is most of the time in this part of Tenerife. The beds are actually comfortable (I’ve stayed in plenty of places where that’s not a given), and the bathrooms are small but well-maintained. What I really appreciated was the attention to little details – proper reading lights, enough outlets for your devices, decent water pressure. The kind of stuff that makes you think someone who actually travels had input on the setup.

Location-wise, this is where things get interesting. Alcalá isn’t one of those resort towns everyone talks about, but that’s exactly why it works. You’re about a 10-minute walk to some really nice black sand beaches that aren’t crawling with tour groups, and the local restaurants along the waterfront serve the kind of fresh fish that makes you understand why this street is named after fishermen. There’s this little café maybe two blocks away – I can’t remember the name, but it’s got the best cortado I had on the whole island. The 7.3 rating seems about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. Parking can be a bit tight on the street, but there’s usually something within a block or two if you’re patient. The staff was helpful in that understated way – they’ll point you toward the good tapas place without making a big production about it. If you’re looking for something authentic and reasonably priced, and you don’t need a pool or fancy lobby, this place gets the job done really well.

  Very close to Alcala beach and few smaller shops. Confy double bed. Shared kitchenette with only micro and coffeemaker. Budget friendly and rather peacefull.

  The Appartment is very central, close to the beach of Alcalá. Kitchen is well equipped, but you can't cook, just make salad or sandwich or something in the microwave. We could sleep well, because at night the main road was not so busy and quiet. We would not stay here for a week, but for 2 nights it was good.
  
  What could be improved: The front room is noisy at daytime, but at night we could sleep well. The owner is friendly but she doesn't speak English, so communication was a bit difficult.
