You know what struck me first about Finca el Roque? The silence. I mean, you’re technically still on Tenerife, but driving up that winding Camino el Roque feels like you’re leaving the world behind – and honestly, that’s exactly what you want here. This isn’t your typical Canarian hotel experience; it’s more like staying at someone’s incredibly stylish country estate, if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a thing for local architecture.

The property sits in these rolling hills above Tegueste (which, let’s be honest, most tourists skip right over on their way to La Laguna), and that’s actually part of its charm. You’re close enough to hit the northern beaches or pop into the UNESCO sites, but far enough away that you can sit on your terrace with morning coffee and hear nothing but birds and maybe the distant sound of someone tending their vineyard. The rooms – well, they’re not really rooms, more like individual casitas – each have this authentic Canarian feel without feeling like a theme park version of it. Think exposed wooden beams, local stone, and these gorgeous little touches that make you wonder if they sourced everything from artisans in the villages nearby.

What really gets me is how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between rustic and refined. The pool area overlooks these incredible views toward the coast (on clear days you can see all the way to the Atlantic), but it never feels pretentious. The staff actually seems to know the area – like, really know it. They’ll point you toward that little family-run restaurant in Tejina that doesn’t even have a sign, or tell you the best time to visit the Anaga forests when the tour buses aren’t clogging up the trails. And the breakfast? They’re clearly working with local suppliers because everything tastes like it was picked or made that morning. I actually found myself lingering over coffee way longer than usual, which says something because I’m usually the “grab and go” type. The only tiny downside – and this is really reaching – is that you’ll definitely want a car here. It’s not a walk-to-everything kind of place, but then again, that isolation is exactly why the 9.5 rating makes complete sense. This is where you come when you want to experience the real Tenerife, not the resort version.

  Location is great! The finca is beautiful. The kids loved to play in the garden. There is a view over mount Teide. This place is very peacefull.

  This was an exceptional location for anyone who loves to be in the nature and enjoy relaxing environment, with a huge garden around, great views, perfect amenities, and far away from the crowds. The property even has its own footpath to the hills around. The garden is beautifully maintained and there is extra equipment – a treehouse, games and other stuff – for the kids. One of the nicest places I stayed and would be keen to come again! The host, Carlos, communicated all the details with us, we could reach him when needed, and he also shared a website with extensive information about Finca el Roque and the surrounding area.

  Lovely Finca tucked away in the foothills with lovely views. Exceptionally quite with large garden and grounds. Facilities are fabulous and the host was very helpful and attentive. Would stay again.
