Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Finca El Pastel? The name makes it sound like some cutesy cake shop, but this place is actually a proper gem tucked away in Tacoronte – and I mean properly tucked away. Calle las Mirleras isn’t exactly main street territory, which honestly works in your favor because you’re away from the tourist chaos but still close enough to everything that matters. The whole area has this authentic Canarian vibe that you don’t get in the southern resort towns, and the locals here still give you that genuine nod when you’re walking around in the morning.

The finca itself sits in what feels like a little pocket of calm – you can actually hear the birds in the morning instead of traffic, which is rare for anywhere decent on Tenerife these days. The building has character without trying too hard, if that makes sense. It’s not one of those places where everything’s been renovated to within an inch of its life, but it’s not rustic to the point where you’re wondering if the shower will work either. The rooms are solid (I stayed in October when it can get a bit chilly at night, and the heating actually worked), and there’s this attention to detail that you notice after a day or two – like how the windows are positioned to catch the morning light but not the afternoon glare, or how the common areas have these little nooks where you can actually sit and read without feeling like you’re on display.

What really sold me on this place, though, is the location for exploring the north of the island. Most people get stuck in the south and never make it up here, but Tacoronte puts you right in the heart of the wine country – and I’m talking about the real deal, not tourist trap tastings. You’re maybe twenty minutes from Santa Cruz if you need city amenities, but you’re also perfectly positioned for hiking in the Anaga mountains or checking out the dragon tree in Icod (which is touristy but worth it). The staff here actually knows the area – like, they can tell you which hiking trails are muddy after rain and which local restaurants are worth the drive. Plus, parking isn’t a nightmare like it is closer to the coast. I mean, it’s not luxury resort territory, but for a four-star place, it punches above its weight. The 9 rating makes sense once you’ve been there a few days and realize how much thought went into making it work as a base for actually experiencing this part of Tenerife, rather than just passing through.

  We had a great stay at Finca el Pastel. We got a really nice and very clean room with a sea and pool view. The breakfast was included and it was quite diverse and delicious. Most of the products are local and there is an impressive garden with oranges, lemons etc. Make sure to arrive by car, since it is a car-friendly location.

  Nice location a little out of Tacoronte. No problem to find even the first time and at evening, when we arrived, thanks to Google maps. There is a spacious private parking, so no trouble with that. I got a code for entrance so no problem with that too. Room is clean and the bed is comfortable. We slept really well. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. One day we went on an early morning trip and I asked if we could get a meal to take with us. No problem with that and it was really wonderful packed. Honesly, we were expecting this kind of accommodation and we were not dissapointed in any way.

  We had a great experience at Finca el Pastel. The location is so beautiful with a view to the sea and you can even see Mount Teide. We got the PIN code to enter the property prior our arrival and it was easy to get in. Our room was pretty and very spacious, I found everything tidy. The breakfast was excellent, they had diverse options every day and everything was delicious.

  Breakfast was amazing. Every day delicious warm dishes. Room was spacious and brand new, very clean. Hotel is very quiet and I was really resting there. I needed a desk and It was arranged for me. There is vending machine in the hotel, swimming pool and big parking. My favourite place to stay. Highly recomended.
  
  What could be improved: Very difficult driveway. Only for experienced driver. Location is only for people with cars: not really possible to stay there without your own transport. Nothing to do in the closest area. But thanks to this is very calm, quiet and far away from the noise.

  The property itself was just amazing. The beautiful gardens to walk around. The pool with a beautiful sunset. Amazing breakfast that changed daily. daily room cleaning. lots of talkative chickens on site. Lots of outdoor seating infront and in back. washroom availbe next to pool. Honestly it was a perfect stay. even vending machines with food and alcohol for late night snack. It had everything you needed. Plus glasses and a bottle opener. 15 minute drive from our favorite beach playa los patos
