You know what struck me first about Finca el Castillo? It’s not actually in some bustling tourist zone – it’s tucked away in Buenavista del Norte, which honestly feels like the real Tenerife that most visitors never see. The address just says “San Antonio s/n” but what that really means is you’re perched up in the hills with these incredible views stretching out toward the ocean, and on clear days you can actually see La Palma floating on the horizon.

The whole place has this authentic finca vibe – I mean, it’s called “the castle” but it’s more like a beautifully restored farmhouse that someone with really good taste got their hands on. The rooms are properly spacious (not those cramped hotel boxes you usually get), and they’ve managed to keep that traditional Canarian architecture while sneaking in all the modern stuff you actually need. The stone walls keep everything cool even when it gets blazing hot outside, which is genius because you’re not running the AC constantly. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the coastal road that you don’t get that constant traffic hum, just the occasional rustle of banana plants in the breeze.

Here’s the thing about staying up here though – you’ll want a rental car. The nearest proper beach is down in Punta del Hidalgo, maybe fifteen minutes of winding roads, but honestly that drive is half the fun. You’re cutting through these terraced hillsides and tiny villages where old guys are still sitting outside bars playing dominoes at 3 PM. The staff at Finca el Castillo actually gave me better restaurant recommendations than any guidebook – there’s this family-run place called Casa Tomás about ten minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise. And if you’re into hiking, well, you’re basically at the doorstep of some of the island’s best trails. The Anaga mountains are right there, and you can hit the coastal path toward Garachico without dealing with the parking nightmares you get at the more famous spots. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no pressure to book excursions, just genuine helpfulness about exploring the area. The pool area gets gorgeous afternoon light, and there’s usually a nice breeze even in summer. It’s that kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because you realize you’ve found something most tourists miss entirely.

  We’ve just returned from the most fabulous holiday – a true piece of paradise! The location was absolutely stunning, with uninterrupted views of both the mountains and the ocean. It was the perfect backdrop for a truly relaxing break.
  
  Our accommodation was clean, comfortable, and felt like a home away from home. Everyone we met was incredibly warm and friendly, which really added to the experience. We didn’t hire a car, but the local buses were brilliant – always on time, spotlessly clean, and very easy to navigate.
  
  One thing to note is that most restaurants cater mainly to the lunchtime crowd, with fewer options open in the evenings. But for us, that only added to the charm – long, leisurely lunches followed by peaceful evenings around the barbecue became the perfect rhythm of the day.

  We arrived late, got a bit lost, but they met us and showed us the way after 10:00 PM. Many thanks! We got lost because we used the car’s navigation system, but the navigation on the phone turned out to be much more reliable. They were in touch with us all evening, asking if everything was okay, showing concern. This is customer orientation at its best, and they responded quickly. The location is amazing, with mountains nearby, and you can descend to the ocean (the beach is wild and not suitable for swimming). The northern part of the island is more natural and untouched. We knew where we were going from the start. The property has a pool, parking, and nice neighbors. It’s a cozy place for a peaceful getaway, with a supermarket and small shops nearby. We highly recommend this place! The staff is very friendly and customer-oriented. We stayed in early February, and the ocean was quite comfortable for swimming. We expected it to be colder. The weather is warm enough to wear beach clothes starting from 10 AM.
  
  What could be improved: There may be some “downsides” to this place, but anyone who wants to can find them. We didn’t have the time or desire to look for any. Our rating is 8.5+.

  The location is fantastic, on the outskirts of the town but with an easy walk to all of the bars restaurants and shops. It is secure with easy parking and has an amazing aspect with views over the golf course and the coastline. There is also a path to the coastal walk, which we enjoyed nearly every day. Martin and Carmen looked after us and communication was easy and pleasant. We were very comfortable and plan to visit again.

  We were looking out for a quiet place to relax playing golf having us time as well as starting some trips and visiting old friends.
  We were able to change the app upon arrival – that was a unforgettable lovely gesture
  We def would recommend this spot for guests who are really looking out to have an absolutely stress free on their own spot to relax

  We had a lovely apartment with a spectacular view from the terrace (ocean, sunsets, rabbits in the morning, etc.). A bit remote, it is beautifully quiet at night, but in walking distance to the village (~5-7min) as well as to the shore (also ~7min). The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped. From the pool one can see the Teide on clear days and everyone was exceedingly friendly. We would definitely come again.

  It is an absolutely beautiful place. It was perfectly clean, there was everything we needed and even more.
  Kitchen was fully equipped for cooking.
  The view is amazing.
  The only thing I recommend to consider before booking is your driving skills. It’s a little bit hard to drive there and around if you are not used to hilly, narrow streets.
