You know what hits you first at Finca Casa los Dragos? The silence. I mean, you’re literally on Camino el Gallo in La Orotava, but it feels like you’ve stepped into some kind of peaceful bubble. The place sits tucked away from the main tourist drag – honestly, my taxi driver had to circle back twice to find it, which should’ve been annoying but somehow made it feel more like discovering a secret.

The property itself is this gorgeous Canarian-style house that’s been converted into a boutique hotel, and whoever did the renovation actually understood what they were working with. The traditional architecture isn’t some Instagram-ready fake rustic thing – it’s the real deal, with those thick stone walls that keep everything cool even when the afternoon sun gets intense. The rooms have this lived-in elegance that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately. Mine overlooked the banana plantations (yeah, they’re everywhere around here), and waking up to that view never got old during my stay. The beds are properly comfortable too, which matters more than people admit when they’re writing reviews.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in La Orotava. Most tourists rush through on their way to Teide, but staying here gives you time to actually explore the old town – those colonial mansions with their wooden balconies are just a ten-minute walk down the hill. The staff clued me in on the best time to visit Casa de los Balcones (early morning, before the tour buses arrive), and they were spot-on. Parking isn’t a nightmare like it is in some of the coastal towns, which is a relief if you’re planning to rent a car and explore the northern part of the island. The breakfast spread is simple but uses local ingredients – proper Canarian cheese, fresh fruit that actually tastes like something, and coffee that doesn’t make you miss your morning routine at home. They serve it on this terrace where you can see clear to the coast on good days, and honestly, it’s hard to rush through a meal with that view.

The whole experience feels authentically Canarian without trying too hard. The building has character – creaky floors in some spots, walls that aren’t perfectly straight – but that’s part of the charm. It’s quiet enough that you’ll sleep well (no street noise or late-night hotel bar chaos), but not so isolated that you feel cut off from everything. The 9.6 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not flashy or over-the-top, just genuinely well-run by people who seem to care about the details. If you’re looking for a pool scene or entertainment program, this isn’t your place. But if you want a peaceful base for exploring Tenerife’s less touristy side, with the kind of comfortable atmosphere that makes you want to extend your stay, Finca Casa los Dragos delivers exactly that.

  La casa y la finca en si es muy acogedora y linda con vistas espectaculares , buen entorno para conectar con la naturaleza, con todos los servicios necesarios. buena ubicación a pesar de la cuesta que es algo normal en la isla y muy buenos anfitriones. Para repetir.
