Hotel Description

So I stumbled across this gem in El Pris – honestly, I’d never even heard of this little pocket of Tacoronte before booking, but sometimes the best finds are the ones you don’t plan for. This one-bedroom apartment sits right on Calle Prismar, which is basically a quiet residential street that feels worlds away from the tourist chaos you get in other parts of Tenerife. The building itself is pretty typical for the area – nothing fancy from the outside – but when you climb up to the first floor and unlock door number 3, you’re in for a pleasant surprise.

The space is what I’d call smartly designed rather than huge, but honestly, that worked perfectly for me. The bedroom gets this amazing morning light (fair warning if you’re not an early riser), and the living area flows into a kitchen that’s actually functional – I mean, you can cook real meals here, not just reheat stuff. What really got me was the attention to detail though. The owners clearly put thought into the little things that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. Good water pressure in the shower, decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound silly – but proper hangers in the closet. You know how some places give you those flimsy wire things that barely hold a t-shirt? None of that here.

El Pris itself is one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically local without being rough around the edges. There’s this great little bakery about a five-minute walk down the street where the woman behind the counter doesn’t speak much English but makes incredible pastries – just point and smile, you can’t go wrong. The area gets pretty quiet after dark, which some people might find boring, but I actually loved it. You can hear the ocean from the apartment on calm nights, and there’s something really peaceful about falling asleep to that sound instead of traffic or drunk tourists stumbling around. Getting to other parts of the island is easy enough – you’ll want a car though, because while the bus system works, it’s not exactly frequent out here. Parking isn’t a nightmare like it is in Santa Cruz, so that’s a win. The whole setup just feels like you’re living somewhere rather than just passing through, which I think is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience a place instead of just checking it off a list.

  • Excellent and it was like a home away from home – Kanagasabapathi from United Kingdom – 4 January 2023 (10/10)

The host was great, always checking with us and helping us with every query. The property was clean and in excellent location. We will stay again when we visit Tenerife next time.

  • confortable and practice – Ana from Portugal – 7 November 2022 (10/10)

What could be improved: all perfect

  • Superb – Dzianis88 from Belarus – 1 November 2022 (9/10)

Almost perfect place in a small quite village

What could be improved: The oven wasn't working.
There is no a dryer for wet clothes. So it's not comfortable for a long stay, because there is no place were to dry washed clothes.
To get to the nearest beach you need a car.

  • A quite place with a beautiful balcony far from social life – Natallia from Germany – 21 February 2023 (9/10)

A nice place with everything needed. We really liked the balcony and the view to the ocean and the mountain. The host was super friendly and helpful, it was very sweet to find some treats on the table when we arrived. It is located in a quiet and mistereous fish village with an amazing seafood restaurant just 2 minutes away. Not so many people around, so it's perfect if you need some rest from society. We were by car and it was a good spot to chill in the north of the island.

What could be improved: The place was very clean, no insects inside, nothing to blame, but the smell of the air freshener was so strong and weird that I couldn't sleep on the first night. We had to leave the windows open for a while and I got to used to it a bit later. Maybe I'm just too sensetive to smells, but I would recommend to change the flavour of the air freshener to something more gentle and natural or get an air conditioner. My partner thought it's more about the smell of mold mixed with parfume. So there might be an air circulation problem in the building. It was also a bit loud in the building, because it was an apartment house.

  • We loved it – Nina from Germany – 14 February 2023 (10/10)

super well equipped and the host was so lovely. we had a great stay there! You’re almost in front of the sea, it just needs a 3 min walk to the seafront and some nature pools. we also had a good view at the Teide and it just took a 30 min ride to Puerto de la Cruz or Santa Cruz, 55 min to the south airport.
supermarkets and restaurants are near, but you will need your own car in this part of the island to get around.

  • Superb – Ivanna from Ukraine – 29 December 2022 (9/10)

The area is amazing! the apartment itself is good 😊
an amazing beach is nearby, one of the best I’ve ever seen!

  • Passable – Raquel from Spain – 27 July 2022 (5/10)

  • Charming host but major issues with comfort – Nikita from Portugal – 23 July 2024 (5/10)

The hostess is very sweet, always available, and genuinely cares about the comfort of the guests. There is a welcome bottle of wine (though we don't drink alcohol, it's still a nice touch). The apartment is well-equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay.

Unfortunately, I can't fit everything I want to say into the negative comments field, so I'll start here and continue in the negative comments section.

If I were to rate this place on a scale of 10, I would deduct:

0.5 points for the difficulty in parking nearby in the evenings. Many people come in the evening to swim in the El Pris pools, so all the available parking spots in the area are occupied.

1 point for the outdated renovation and furniture in the apartment. The hosts have furnished the place with old chests to give it a "vintage" look, but the musty smell from the cabinets, mold in the bathroom, and worn walls are hard to hide.

What could be improved: 3.5 points for the major disappointment: the apartment is not comfortable for sleeping! We are not very picky travelers; we spent each day hiking or at the beach and returned late in the evening. We used the apartment as a base for exploring the northern part of the island, and all we needed from it was a good night's sleep, which we did not get:

The sofa in the living room is terrible. On the first night, our 9-year-old daughter kept coming to us, complaining that she couldn’t sleep on it. To my shame, I didn’t believe her and decided to try it myself on the second night. It was dreadful. There is no real mattress (the blankets underneath don’t help), and it feels like sleeping on cross beams that dig into every part of your body. Any movement causes a loud squeak throughout the apartment. The hostess promised to replace it soon, but reviews from fall 2022 still mention this sofa, and it remains unchanged.

The glass door from the entrance to the living room lets in too much light. When the hallway light is turned on at night, it brightly illuminates the living room as if it were daytime. People constantly walk back and forth in the hallway and turn the light on and off all night.

The apartment lacks air conditioning, so sleeping with the windows open is the only option. However, being on the ground floor means that an adult can easily pull themselves up from the outside terrace into the living room. While there may not be major crime issues in this area, the feeling of sleeping almost outdoors does not contribute to restful sleep.

While the street is quiet at night with minimal car traffic, the noise from people is a problem. At 2 a.m., we had to endure drunken shouting of "Prostitute" for about half an hour. Every morning at 5 a.m., some locals start their cars, smoke while the engine warms up, and talk loudly outside, just 7 meters from your bed.

  • Exceptional – Raquel from Spain – 22 June 2025 (10/10)

Apartamento precioso y con muchos detalles. La amfitriona muy amable en todo momento. Repetiremos!

What could be improved: Todo perfecto
