You know what caught me off guard about Estudio Menta? I was expecting just another decent place to crash in Tacoronte, but this little gem on Calle Médico Ernesto Castro actually feels like someone’s stylish apartment that they’ve opened up to travelers. The name makes perfect sense once you’re inside – there’s this fresh, clean aesthetic that’s sort of minimalist but not cold, if that makes sense.

Tacoronte isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, which is honestly part of the charm here. You’re about twenty minutes from the madness of Puerto de la Cruz, but you get to experience this proper Canarian town where locals actually live and work. The studio is tucked into a residential street that’s quiet enough for proper sleep (thank god, because I’m one of those people who needs absolute silence), but you can walk to the town center in maybe ten minutes. There’s a little supermarket practically around the corner – I mean, you’ll spot it immediately when you’re looking for morning coffee supplies. The whole setup works brilliantly if you’ve got a rental car, which you probably should in this part of Tenerife anyway.

What really impressed me was how thoughtfully everything’s designed. The space feels bigger than it actually is, and whoever kitted it out clearly understands what travelers need versus what looks good in photos. The kitchen area is compact but functional – I actually cooked a few meals there instead of eating out every night, which says something. The bed is properly comfortable (not one of those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you wrecked), and the bathroom has decent water pressure. Small details, but they matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The wifi is solid too, which saved me when I needed to sort out some work stuff. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the place stayed cool without being stuffy – good ventilation, I think, plus the building doesn’t seem to trap heat like some of the older places do. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there; it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should, and the value is honestly brilliant for what you get.
