Hotel Description

So I stumbled across Estudio La Estrella completely by accident – well, sort of accident since I was specifically hunting for something authentic in Candelaria, but you know what I mean. It’s tucked away on Calle el Pozo, and honestly, if you’re expecting some flashy hotel entrance, this isn’t it. The building looks like any other residential spot in the neighborhood, which is actually part of its charm once you get inside.

The thing about this place is that it feels like staying at a really design-conscious friend’s apartment rather than a typical hotel. I mean, the name literally translates to “The Star Studio” and whoever runs it clearly has an eye for making small spaces work beautifully. The apartment I stayed in (3B) had this lovely mix of modern touches and traditional Canarian elements – nothing too precious or Instagram-staged, just comfortable and thoughtful. The kitchen was actually functional, not one of those sad hotel kitchenettes where you can barely make coffee. Street parking can be a bit tricky during the day since it’s a residential area, but evenings are usually fine, and the locals are pretty helpful if you look lost.

What really sold me on the place was how quiet it gets at night. Candelaria isn’t exactly a party town anyway, but Calle el Pozo is residential enough that you’re not dealing with tourist noise or late-night bar crowds. You’re also walking distance from the basilica – maybe ten minutes if you’re taking your time – which is genuinely worth seeing even if you’re not particularly religious. The whole setup works especially well if you’re planning to explore the area by car since you can easily reach the coastal road or head up into the mountains. I actually ended up staying an extra night because it felt so… settled, I guess? Like I could actually unpack and breathe instead of just crashing between sightseeing marathons. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the small apartment hotel thing really, really well.
