You know what? I almost walked right past Estudio Calima the first time I was looking for it on Calle Amistad – it’s one of those places that doesn’t scream “look at me” from the street, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Tucked away in Arico, which most people blow right through on their way to the flashier parts of Tenerife, this little spot feels like you’ve stumbled onto something the guidebooks haven’t quite figured out yet.

The thing about staying here is that you’re actually living in a real neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. I mean, there’s a local bakery literally around the corner where the owner remembers your coffee order after two days, and you can hear the church bells from Plaza de Arico in the morning – not annoying church bells, mind you, just this gentle reminder that you’re somewhere with actual history. The studio itself is pretty much exactly what you’d want if you’re the type who gets claustrophobic in those massive resort complexes. It’s clean, it’s thoughtfully set up (whoever designed the kitchenette actually cooks, I can tell), and the bed is surprisingly comfortable for a 3-star place. The whole vibe is more “staying at your well-organized friend’s place” than “anonymous hotel room.”

What really sold me on this place, though, is how Miguel (the guy who manages it) actually knows the area. Not just the standard “beach is that way” knowledge, but real local intel – like how the hiking trail up to Montaña de Arico is way better in the early morning before the wind picks up, or which day the market in Granadilla is worth the short drive. The location is sort of perfect if you want to explore the less touristy parts of the island without feeling completely isolated. You’re about twenty minutes from the coast, but you’re also close enough to the interior that you can do some serious hiking without planning a whole expedition. Parking is actually easy here too, which – if you’ve ever tried to find a spot in Los Cristianos during high season – you’ll appreciate. The only minor thing is that the WiFi can be a bit spotty during peak hours, but let’s be real, you’re probably not here to binge Netflix anyway. The 8.7 rating makes total sense to me; it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really good at being what it is.

  We liked the proximity to the beach and every aspect of the apartment. The height of the apartment made for a great view and we loved the beach and the quietness of the town. The air quality in the area is also very good.

  really amazing location overlooking the beach and the ocean. the town is an authentic hidden pearl with 2 convenience stores, 1 restaurant and 2 cafe/bars. the terrace is great, the owners are nice and helpful, and their place is newly renovated and spotlessly clean.
