Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Estancia Julia on Camino los Gomez, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. This little gem sits tucked away in La Orotava, and I mean properly tucked away – you’re not dealing with tourist crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM here.

The thing about La Orotava that most people don’t realize is that it’s actually one of the most authentic spots in Tenerife. While everyone’s fighting for beach chairs down in the resort areas, you’re up here in what feels like real Spain – cobblestone streets, locals chatting outside tiny bars, the whole deal. Estancia Julia gets this completely. The owners (and honestly, they feel more like hosts than hotel staff) clearly know their neighborhood inside and out. They’ll tell you which local restaurants actually serve food worth eating, not just the ones with English menus plastered outside. There’s this little tapas place about a ten-minute walk down the hill that I never would’ve found without their recommendation – no sign, just locals packed around tiny tables spilling onto the sidewalk.

What really struck me about staying here was how quiet it gets at night. I mean, properly quiet – not that fake resort quiet where you can still hear pool parties echoing from three hotels over. You’ll hear church bells in the morning (which is actually pretty charming once you get used to it), and during the day there’s just this gentle hum of neighborhood life. The rooms themselves are nothing fancy, but they’re clean and comfortable, and the beds are actually decent – I’ve stayed in supposedly fancier places where I woke up feeling like I’d been sleeping on cardboard. The WiFi works well enough for checking emails and posting photos, though don’t expect to stream movies in 4K. There’s parking right there, which honestly saves you a huge headache because finding a spot in these old Spanish towns can be a nightmare. The 9.3 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there a few days – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. You’re twenty minutes from the coast if you want beach time, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore the island’s interior, which is where the real magic happens anyway. Mount Teide’s practically in your backyard, and the hiking trails through the Orotava Valley are spectacular. I’d definitely go back – it’s one of those places that feels like you’re actually experiencing somewhere, not just visiting it.

  Excellent séjour lors de notre semaine passée à Tenerife, le meilleur, rapport qualité/prix nous ayant trouvé.
  L’emplacement est top, calme, le studio est petit mais très fonctionnel pour ranger ses affaires, se faire à manger…
  
  Nous n’avons vu notre hote durant le séjour, mais les instructions d’arrivée étaient claires, et cette dernières a toujours été très réactive pour répondre à nos questions où nous conseiller sur certaines activités!
  
  Petit plus, le matin au réveil avec le volcan d’un côté et la mer de l’autre, vaut le coup d’œil !

  Kameralny obiekt, z dala od turystycznego zgiełku, dobrze wyposażony (pralko-suszarka, zastawa kuchenna, żelazko, itp.).
  Blisko do miejscowości La Orotava, Puerto de La Cruz i ogólnie dobre miejsce wypadowe jeśli poruszasz się po wyspie samochodem.
  Basen z podgrzewaną wodą, ręczniki basenowe na wyposażeniu.
  W sąsiedztwie knajpa Guachinche z pysznym, lokalnym jedzeniem i miłą obsługą.

  Logement pas très grand mais très bien équipé. Propre. Il y a tout ce qu'il faut. Juste un petit bémol sur les tabourets de la cuisine qui ne sont pas confortables du tout et il n'y a pas de table ni chaises pour manger à l'intérieur (en janvier il faisait trop frais pour manger dehors le soir).
