You know what caught me off guard about Esencias del Mar & Wifi? The name makes it sound like some budget place that threw WiFi into their title as an afterthought, but honestly, this little gem on Calle los Prismas totally exceeded my expectations. I mean, we’re talking about a 4-star place pulling a 9.5 rating, which — let’s be real — doesn’t happen by accident.

The thing about Poris de Abona is that most tourists zoom right past it heading to the bigger resorts, but that’s actually what makes this spot so perfect. You’re tucked away in this authentic Canarian fishing village where the locals still outnumber the visitors, and the hotel sits right where you can hear the ocean but you’re not dealing with the crowds that swarm places like Los Cristianos. The staff here actually remembers your name after the first day, which is refreshing when you’re used to those massive resort complexes where you’re just another room number. Check-in was surprisingly smooth — they had our room ready even though we arrived earlier than expected, and the front desk guy (I think his name was Miguel?) gave us this whole rundown of local spots that weren’t in any guidebook I’d seen.

What really sold me was walking out onto our balcony that first evening and realizing we had this unobstructed view of the Atlantic without paying those premium oceanfront prices you’d get in the busier towns. The rooms themselves are clean and well-maintained — not flashy, but everything works properly, which is honestly more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. The WiFi is actually solid throughout the building (hence the name, I guess), which was clutch since I had to hop on a few work calls during our stay. Parking isn’t an issue either, which anyone who’s driven around southern Tenerife will tell you is a genuine blessing. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re someone who needs to be right in the thick of nightlife, you’ll want to drive about 15 minutes to get to the main action — but for us, that was perfect since we could enjoy the quiet when we wanted it and still hit the livelier spots when the mood struck. The hotel’s location puts you close enough to the TF-1 that you can easily explore the island, but far enough from the highway noise that you’re not hearing trucks all night. I’d definitely come back here, especially knowing now that you can get this level of service and comfort without the tourist trap pricing of the bigger resort areas.

  We have been in this appartment, or one of the neighbouring, for two weeks for the past years. Since we return year after year, it indicates we are happy with the appertment and the location only a few meters from the sea. We love swimming in the ocean. Just outside the door are stairs and ladders into the ocean. Wawes may now and then force you to use the small black beach 50 meters away.
  The owner replied quickly by Whatsapp, but we never saw him.
  
  What could be improved: The key box mounted on the door was placed in only a ½ meter hight i.e. you must stand in a ackwarded posture to see the code figures. This was particular difficult because it was dark and the figures in the turnwheel in the key box were difficult to read.
  This was only a minor problem.
  There are 10 identical appartments in the address Calle de los Prismas 5. They have different owners and therefore different names. Please be sure to book the correct appartment, not the cheaper studio appartment.

  The location and the accommodation are perfectly located in the little port overlooking the ocean. Total peace & silence. I will definitely go back! Isabela & Cesar who cleaned the house are wonderful. And communication and info from Jorge were excellent! A well kept gem. 👏

  Die Wohnung liegt ausgesprochen schön mit wunderbarem Blick aufs Meer. Der kleine Essbereich auf der Terrasse ist schön geschützt vor Wind und Regen, die Liegen davor gut zum Entspannen.
  
  What could be improved: Die Matratzen könnten etwas weicher sein. Dusche statt der etwas rutschigen Badewanne wäre besser. Ansonsten alles Top!

  Prachtige locatie met uitzicht op de oceaan. Op een eigen terras ontbijten of van de zon genieten op een strandbad. Even pad oversteken voor een heerlijke duik in de oceaan.
  Accomodatie gezellig ingericht en zeer comfortabel. Ruime slaapkamer op de eerste verdieping met wederom uitzicht op de oceaan
