You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment I walked into FW 411 at Amarilla Golf, I realized I wasn’t staying in just another holiday rental – this felt like someone’s actual home, if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious thing for golf course views. The apartment sits right on Avenida María Ángeles Ascanio Cullen, which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is – it’s actually this quiet stretch where you can hear the ocean if you step out on the terrace early enough, before the day gets going.

The whole setup is what I’d call “understated elegant” – none of that over-the-top resort nonsense, but everything’s clearly been thought through by someone who actually stays in vacation rentals themselves. The kitchen’s got proper knives (you know how rare that is), there’s decent water pressure in the shower, and the wifi actually works from the bedroom, which… well, if you’ve traveled much, you’ll appreciate that. I mean, the golf course views are gorgeous and all, but sometimes you just need to catch up on emails without sitting at the dining table, right? The living area opens up beautifully to that terrace, and honestly, I spent most evenings out there with a glass of wine, watching golfers finish their rounds as the sun started setting over the Atlantic.

What really sold me on this spot – and San Miguel de Abona in general – is how it sits perfectly between the tourist madness and actual local life. You’re about fifteen minutes from the airport, which sounds terrible but is actually brilliant when you’re dragging luggage and just want to collapse somewhere civilized. The Amarilla Golf course itself is surprisingly well-maintained and not too challenging if you’re traveling with someone who talks a big game but can’t actually break 90 (we’ve all been there). There’s a little supermarket about a five-minute walk away where the woman behind the counter started recognizing me by day three, and the seafood restaurant down toward the marina – I can’t remember the exact name, but it’s got blue shutters – serves this octopus dish that I’m still thinking about months later. The only thing I’d warn you about is that August gets pretty packed with Spanish families, so if you’re looking for total peace and quiet, maybe aim for shoulder season. But honestly, even with the extra activity, this apartment felt like a proper retreat from it all.

  The place is great!. Interesting decor. Feels very homy not as a rental at all. Everything was in order and as expected. Chris was very helpful and responsive with answers and suggestions. Location is great if you are a golfer. Need to drive about 20-30 min to a nicer beach. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place.
