You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to El Sitio de la Casa on Calle Nuestra Señora de la Luz – honestly, the street name is longer than some hotel descriptions I’ve read. But this little gem in Arico el Nuevo completely caught me off guard. It’s tucked away in this quiet part of southern Tenerife that most tourists never see, about twenty minutes from the airport but worlds away from the chaos of the resort towns. The building itself has this understated elegance that screams “local secret” rather than tourist trap, and I mean that in the best possible way.

What really struck me was how the staff actually seemed to care about the place – you can tell when people are just going through the motions versus when they’re genuinely proud of where they work. The check-in was smooth (parking right out front, thank god), and they gave me these incredibly detailed recommendations for local spots that weren’t just the usual tourist haunts. The rooms are spacious without being cavernous, and the attention to detail is remarkable – I’m talking about things like actually good water pressure, blackout curtains that work, and beds that don’t feel like they were assembled yesterday. The whole property has this calm, residential feel that makes you want to slow down and actually relax, which is rare these days.

Here’s the thing about Arico el Nuevo – it’s not flashy, but it’s authentic in a way that the coastal resorts can’t touch. You’re close enough to explore the dramatic landscapes of southern Tenerife (the drive to Teide National Park is absolutely worth it), but you’re staying somewhere that feels like a real place where real people live. The neighborhood is quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open, and there’s something magical about waking up to the sound of the town coming to life rather than tour buses and pool parties. El Sitio de la Casa gets this balance perfectly – it’s polished enough to feel special but unpretentious enough to feel comfortable. That 9.7 rating isn’t just numbers on a screen; it’s what happens when someone actually puts thought into creating a place that works for travelers who want more than just a bed and a bathroom.

  The apartment is perfect for those who look for a quiet retreat far from crowds. It is located in picturesque canarian village with historic atmosphere. Our apartment was cozy and clean, well equipped with everything you need, including extra towels. We appreciated the welcome bottle of wine, coffee, and cleaning in the middle of the week. The temperatures were very agreeable here in the evening and night (July). Juani was very friendly and always ready to help. Her care is visible throughout the whole place with lots of blooming flowers and lovely spots.

  Gorgeous villa with your own pool, very private and peaceful location in a traditional village. The villa is very well equipped with everything you need. The owners are very friendly and helpful. A car is required if you want to visit places with a few shops and a pizza place about a 15 mins walk. Amazing place we would definitely return!

  The host and his eagerness to help. Very kind person Emilio. Attention to detail and cleanliness. The possibility to wash your clothes. Provided a lot of advice on what places to visit. Always eager to help. He made us feel comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Warm water had some issues. The host recognized it and was very concerned to resolve it. He later mentioned that he is going to change the boiler. The parking was not on property but rather down the street infront of the church. It is not a showstopper though. Bad Wifi Signal in the bedroom. Can be resolved using repeater. The host agreed to do so.
