You know what struck me first about El Miramar? It’s tucked right on Calle el Castillo in Buenavista del Norte – and honestly, that location is pure gold if you’re trying to escape the tourist madness down south. I mean, you’re still in Tenerife, but this feels like the real Canary Islands, where locals actually outnumber the sunburned Germans with their guidebooks. The hotel itself has this relaxed, family-run vibe that immediately made me drop my shoulders and forget about checking emails. The lobby smells faintly of that sweet volcanic air mixed with whatever flowering trees they’ve got scattered around the entrance, and the check-in was refreshingly unhurried – none of that corporate efficiency that makes you feel like you’re being processed.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels connected to its surroundings without trying too hard. The rooms are genuinely comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), with those thick walls that keep things cool during the day and surprisingly quiet at night. You can actually hear the ocean from some rooms, which is saying something since you’re not right on the beach. The staff – well, they know their stuff about the area, and I got some fantastic recommendations for hiking trails that weren’t on any tourist map. Plus, parking is actually manageable here, unlike some places where you’re circling blocks like a vulture. The pool area gets this perfect afternoon light that makes everything look like a postcard, but it never felt crowded, even during what I assume was their busy season.

Here’s the thing about Buenavista del Norte that makes staying at El Miramar feel like a discovery – it’s positioned perfectly for exploring the wild northern coast without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. You can walk to decent restaurants (try the seafood place three blocks down – locals pack it on weekends), and the dramatic coastline is literally a five-minute drive away. The hotel’s 4-star rating feels honest – it’s not trying to be fancy, just really good at what it does. That 8.8 rating makes sense too; there’s clearly attention to detail without the pretension. I particularly loved how the common areas had books in multiple languages just lying around, and the terrace where you can watch the sunset over the Atlantic while sipping something cold. If you’re the type who wants to experience Tenerife beyond the resort bubble but still sleep comfortably, this spot delivers exactly that.

  What could be improved: The apartment is cold. Because of this the comfort level goes down with 50%. With a 2 years old,17-18 degrees are not very comfortable. Also the gap in the living room for ventilation on the celling was producing huge amount of wind as the local area is mostly windy.

  Nett eingerichtetes Appartement in recht zentraler Lage von Buenavista del Norte. Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind zu Fuß erreichbar. Problemlose nette Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter auch bei Problemen. Die Unterkunft war tadellos gereinigt und die Einrichtung wirkte neuwertig. Gutes W-Lan mit guter Erreichbarkeit bei mittlerer Geschwindigkeit. Für unseren Mietwagen gab es in der Regel einen kostenfreien Parkplatz auf der Straße. Das eigentliche Highlight der Unterkunft ist die großzügige Dachterrasse. Diese kann durch ein elektrisches Sonnensegel sogar teilweise beschattet werde. Ideal zum Entspannen und Erholen. Die Ausstattung ist nicht luxuriös aber gehoben funktional was Küchenausstattung und Einrichtung angeht. Die Schlüsselübergabe funktionierte problemlos über nahe der Eingangstüren angebrachte mit Zahlenschlössern versehene Fächer.
  
  What could be improved: Der Ort Buenavista del Norte ist über die Straßen eher schlecht erreichbar, da in diesem Bereich von Teneriffa die Ringautobahn noch nicht ausgebaut ist. Vom Flughafen Teneriffa Süd braucht man ca. 1,5 – 2 Stunden Anreise über teilweise recht schmale Nebenstraßen. Die Anreise vom Flughafen Teneriffa Nord mutet wegen der besser ausgebauten Straßensituation problemloser an.

  Íbúðin var hreinleg og bauð upp á öll hugsanleg þægindi. Staðsetningin var frábær, stutt í góða veitingastaði, matvöruverslanir og frábærar gönguleiðir í nágrenninu. Gestgjafarnir voru vingjarnlegir og boðnir og búnir til að aðstoða ef við þurftum á að halda.
  
  What could be improved: Íbúðin er mjög hljóðbær. Það væri æskilegt að hafa kaffi, te og helstu krydd til matargerðar í íbúðinni.

  Отличная квартира, полностью обородувана всем необходимым, просторная и светлая, чистая и тихая, с отличной террасой. Владельцы дружелюбны, быстро реагируют на комментарии.
  
  What could be improved: В наш период пребывания с 2/03 по 11/03 в квартире было холодно, но был обогреватель, выбивал свет если одновременно работают обогреватель и другой электроприбор, и вода горячая заканчивалась, на троих не хватало. Приходилось ждать пока нагреется.
