You know what? I almost drove right past El Cercado the first time I tried to find it. It’s tucked away on this quiet stretch of Camino el Marengo, just far enough from the main tourist chaos of Icod de los Vinos that you actually feel like you’re staying somewhere locals might know about. The whole place has this understated charm – I mean, it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel on the island, but honestly, that’s exactly why it works so well.

The location is actually pretty clever when you think about it. You’re close enough to walk into town for dinner (maybe fifteen minutes if you don’t mind a little uphill trek), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tour bus noise at 7 AM. And here’s the thing about staying in this part of Icod – you’re perfectly positioned for exploring the north coast without having to drive through all the southern resort traffic. The staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests, which sounds like such a small thing but you notice it more when you’ve been bouncing between those massive chain hotels where everyone looks exhausted.

What really got me was the attention to detail in the rooms. Nothing flashy, but everything just… worked. The beds were actually comfortable (not always a given in smaller hotels), the bathroom had proper water pressure, and there was this nice little balcony situation where you could sit with your morning coffee and just breathe for a minute. The whole vibe feels more like staying at someone’s well-appointed guesthouse than a typical hotel – in the best possible way. I stayed there during the shoulder season in October, and honestly, it felt like having the place mostly to yourself. The breakfast was simple but good quality, lots of local touches that made it feel authentic rather than generic continental fare. Parking was never an issue, which if you’ve tried to navigate some of the narrow streets in the old town, you’ll appreciate. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not about luxury amenities, it’s about everything being done thoughtfully and well.

  Fantastic.
  We stayed from the 4th to the 15th of November. weather was great (24 to 26 degrees). Everything you need is here. Spotlessly clean, really comfortable bed. Fantastic heated pool.wifi, parking.lovely host.very quite spot with views of the mountain. Would definitely return.many thanks, Ian and Deb.

  The house has a big outside terrace and garden. So you have plenty of space you can use. Garden with fresh oranges,lemons and avocados, terrace, pool and barbecue. There is also a small kids playground in the garden. It was very clean inside. Good equipped. The best part is privacy. And the owner was very friendly.

  Amazing view on the mountain Teide and on the see. The house is on a steep hill where you can get by ninibus 🚍 from the centre and it stops very next to the house.
  At the property there is an awesome pool from which you can observe the Teide ⛰️. The house is spacious, clean and cosy.
  The owner (hello Maria ☺️) is very generous and lovely to be around. She takes care of the house and the hosts very well and she treated us as members of her family. Thank you very much again and see you soon. ☺️✨ and for those who hesitate if to choose this accommodation, just get there and you will be amazed as we were. Veronika & John

  Nous avons adoré cet appartement situé dans un quartier dont le calme est absolu. C'est idéal pour se reposer. La vue sur l'océan et le volcan Tiede sont des atouts. Un jardin avec des oranges et des citrons est disponible. De belles terrasses, un garage fermé, une piscine et un BBQ sont à disposition. La ville et les restaurants sont proches en auto. Il est très facile de se repérer, car une des attractions de l'ile, la Cueva del Viento, se trouve juste en-dessous. Il suffit de suivre les panneaux, même depuis l'autoroute, pour trouver l'appartement. La propriétaire est chaleureuse et accueillante. Cet appartement est un vrai bijou.
