You know what? El Cedro completely caught me off guard. I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this little 3-star spot in La Jaca, I wasn’t expecting much. The address doesn’t exactly scream “tourist hotspot,” and that’s actually part of what makes it so damn charming. It sits in this quiet residential area where you’ll hear roosters in the morning (yes, really) and the kind of authentic Canarian life that most visitors never stumble across.

The thing is, La Jaca puts you in this sweet spot where you’re still connected to everything but away from the cruise ship crowds that pack the main tourist zones. I mean, you’re maybe 15 minutes from the coast if you know the local roads – and the woman at reception actually drew me a little map showing the shortcuts locals use. That 9.4 rating starts making sense when you realize they’re doing all these small things right. The rooms are clean without being sterile, there’s this lived-in comfort that feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than a hotel. Plus, parking is actually free and easy here, which anyone who’s driven around Santa Cruz will tell you is basically a miracle.

What really sold me was the genuine local vibe of the whole area. You’ve got this authentic slice of Tenerife where the bakery down the street opens at 6 AM with the best gofio bread I had on the island, and the elderly gentlemen playing dominoes at the corner bar treat you like a regular after day two. The hotel itself feels like it belongs in the neighborhood rather than being dropped in by some international chain. Sure, it’s not fancy – don’t expect a spa or a rooftop pool – but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on being genuinely comfortable instead of Instagram-perfect. The staff actually remembers your name, the wifi works consistently (crucial for those of us who can’t completely disconnect), and honestly, after a day of hiking in Teide or exploring the capital, you’ll appreciate coming back to somewhere that feels like a real home base rather than a tourist factory.

  Our stay at El Cedro, La Jaca was amazing! The house was clean, cozy, and exactly like the photos. The host was very attentive, welcomed us personally, stayed in touch, and even prepared a lovely surprise—local wine and a traditional snack.

  Un séjour parfait ! L’appartement était exactement comme sur les photos, très propre, bien équipé et décoré avec goût. L’emplacement est idéal, proche de l’océan dans un quartier calme. Le lit était très confortable, et nous avons beaucoup apprécié les petites attentions laissées par l’hôte. La communication avec l’hôte a été fluide et chaleureuse, avec des réponses rapides et utiles.

  Die Wohnung ist ganz neu renoviert und mit allem ausgestattet, was man so braucht. Es gibt sogar ausreichend Wasserdruck in der Dusche (was ja nicht überall auf den Kanaren so ist).
  Es war sauber und der Gastgeber super freundlich! Er hat uns sogar einen Kinderstuhl organisiert und bei unserer Ankunft gab es ein kleines Gastgeschenk und sogar Sand-Spielzeug für das Kind.
  Der kleine Innenhof ist super um abends draußen zu essen oder noch ein bisschen gemütlich zu sitzen.
  
  What could be improved: Wir fanden die Pfannen und Töpfe etwas klein, um für 2,5 Personen zu kochen. Aber vielleicht essen wir auch einfach zu viel 😀
  Was uns auch ein bisschen gestört hat waren die Katzenhaare im Innenhof. Vermutlich fallen sie von der Wohnung darüber herunter. Um das Kind im Innenhof krabbeln zu lassen ist der Kunstrasen zu schmutzig mit Krümeln, Fusseln und Katzenhaaren.

  Todo cómodo limpio con buen equipamiento exceptuando que eche de menos un calderito más grandecito,y una luz de sensor en los escalones ya que me olvidé de los escalones y me fui al suelo sin incidencias pero todo genial muy a gusto así que repetiremos

  Apartament bardzo ładny, gustownie urządzony. Wszystkie udogodnienia zostały zapewnione. Miły gospodarz powitał nas butelką lokalnego wina. W czasie pobytu udało nam się być na festival w mieście la Jaca. Było to wspaniałe doświadczenie. Polecam to miejsce na urlop z rodziną.

  El anfitrión nos dejó a nuestra llegada una botella de vino y unos snacks típicos de la zona, además el apartamento cuenta con un librito donde se encuentra todo lo necesario a saber sobre el alojamiento y la zona donde se sitúa, sin duda totalmente recomendable!

  El Apartamento es como aparece en las fotos, decorado con buen gusto, y todo prácticamente nuevo, el anfitrión nos dejó algunos detalles chocolatinas, refrescos… no eran necesarios, pero todos desaparecieron. El aeropuerto sur, está cerca de La Jaca, algo importante, teniendo en cuenta el tráfico saturado de la isla.
  Guardaremos la dirección, por si es necesario, repetir.
