Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “cave house” I was expecting something pretty rustic, maybe even a bit gimmicky. But Eco Holidays Cave House Justine completely changed my perspective on what cave accommodations can actually be. This place sits right on Calle de Ángel Arocha in Granadilla de Abona, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. You’re tucked away from the tourist madness but still close enough to everything that matters.

The cave itself is… well, it’s surprisingly sophisticated. I mean, you’re literally sleeping in volcanic rock formations, but somehow it feels more like a high-end boutique hotel than some prehistoric camping experience. The temperature stays naturally cool year-round – which is amazing during those scorching Tenerife summers when everywhere else feels like an oven. The owners have done something really clever with the lighting too; instead of fighting against the cave’s natural darkness, they’ve embraced it with these warm, ambient fixtures that make the whole space feel incredibly cozy. There’s this particular corner where the rock curves just so, and they’ve placed a reading nook there that honestly became my favorite spot for morning coffee.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to be genuinely eco-friendly without making you feel like you’re sacrificing comfort. The water pressure is excellent (trust me, this matters when you’ve been hiking around the island all day), and the beds are actually comfortable – not always a given in unique accommodations like this. Parking is straightforward, which might seem like a small thing but anyone who’s driven around these narrow Canarian streets knows what a relief that is. The check-in process was smooth too; Justine clearly knows her stuff about the local area and gave me some insider tips about hiking trails that I never would have found otherwise. One thing to note – it can get pretty quiet here at night, which I loved, but if you’re someone who needs city sounds to sleep, just be prepared for that peaceful silence that only comes from being nestled in ancient rock. The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense once you experience it; it’s one of those places that exceeds expectations in ways you didn’t even know you had expectations about.

    Great location, nice and quiet.

  • Stunning cave house – Michelle from United Kingdom – 13 August 2024 (10/10)

Everything about our stay was perfect, the hosts were so lovely, they met us at the house and left us some food and milk for our arrival. The house was great, a really stunning cave house which keeps nice and cool so no need for fans/air con but there was one in case. We arrived without having hired a car, we thought we could get around using the buses but a car is really useful to have if staying here. The host and also their neighbours went above and beyond to help us with getting a car to use. We can't thank them enough for their kindness. Overall a brilliant holiday and would definitely recommend, I would love to come back

  • Superb – Christopher from Germany – 24 March 2024 (9/10)

Beautiful cave house with a great view and lots of privacy, we really liked the open kitchen, we had barbecue literally every evening 🙂 The host was super nice and made sure that theres everything we need for our first day, including coffee, fruits, some bread and ham as well as milk. The location is in a smaller town in the south-western part of teneriffa, as long as you have a car you can reach the TF-1 in 3-5 minutes aswell as the next bigger city (San Isidro) where you get everything you need. Theres also a superdiplo minimarket 2 minutes up the street. Overall the location was clean and had everything we needed for a beautiful and relaxing vacation on the canares! We would definitely come here again!

  • We had a relaxing stay! Nice hosts and lovely property! – Rakeen from United Kingdom – 23 February 2024 (10/10)

This property had lots of character and felt very private. The hosts were very welcoming and left a wonderful welcome basket of food essentials. We loved the space and the country feel. Such a gem! We would return!

  • Unique place for holidays for those who prefer privacy and peace over comfort of luxury hotels. – Jan from Czech Republic – 26 August 2023 (10/10)

Generally, everything was perfect and corresponds exactly with the description here. We were very satisfied, it is a nice place in the village, not very far away from the beaches and shops, but away from the overcrowded hotels and touristic centres. It is the right place, where you can really relax during your holidays. It it a real house which you can use for common living – if I could have one or two months long holidays, I can imagine to live here normally as at home. You have here everything you need. It is safe place at all, you even don't need to lock the main gate. At the entrance is the parking space so you don't have to leave the car directly on the street. There is a good kitchen, where you can cook anything you want. Everything is clean and fully functional, I did not have any technical problem during our stay. Rooms are not as dark as you may expect, even if the big window is only in the kitchen. When you leave all doors and the window open during the day, you must not switch on the lights. During the day, you are not inside anyway, there is very spacy outside "terrace", where you can do anything – eat, drink, lie on a deckchair and catch some sun, grill (we did not use it but it is possible to use) or do some work in your laptop. There is a new garden swimming pool (that small round) with fresh and clean water (it has filtration and chlorine tablets, it is absolutely clean and safe) – you can just be in the pool even naked, there is nobody around. Free internet connection is possible to use in most of the object and is very very fast (via fibre optical technology), I got the speed as high as 250/250 MBit/s, in comparison we do not have such possibility in a panel house in our city in Czech! But it is possible in a cave 🙂 Only in the bedroom is the WiFi connection wrong due to the strong stone walls, but I solved it by the "repeater" (via hotspot on my second mobile phone) and it worked fine.

    Something different

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Exceptional – Mojmir from Czech Republic – 17 May 2023 (10/10)

What a great place! Stunning views, very clean, very quiet. Lovely host, great communication. We have encountered zero problems. Safe for kids. The kitchen, with fully opening windows to garden and a custom barbecue, really make you want to cook.

  • We really enjoyed staying at the cave. It is such a beautiful and comfortable accomondation. – Stefanie from Austria – 22 February 2023 (10/10)

    The peaceful and quit atmosphere.

  • Cave house – Kurt from Belgium – 27 June 2025 (9/10)

Very clean at arrival. It looked exactly as on the photographs on the website. A lot of space and n
o direct neighbours. All was there for cooking. As we were there for a longer period it was nice to have the washing machine. Enough towels and sheets were available.
The host also gave fruit and other foodstuffs so we already could start the first morning with a meal. A small shop with everything you need is at the end of the street.

What could be improved: Barking , crying dogs whole day. Also during the night but then you do not hear them so loud. They do not keep you from sleeping.
It should not keep one from booking this cave because it's really an experience.

  • Nice experience, would return! – Barbara from Hungary – 28 November 2024 (9/10)

Nice ambience, we liked that we had the place to ourselves and had a view of the sea and the hill. It was quite an experience to stay at a proper cave. As the place is a bit isolated, there was not much light pollution at night and we could gaze at the stars.

What could be improved: If we have to say something, we would add more storage spaces and/or night stands for the bedroom.
